The New York Times Magazine can't be serious. There's no way. Why on earth would the mag put Tyra Banks on the same cover as the words "Oprah" and "Martha"? Unless the staff is referring to the ladies' obvious similarities. Remember that time Martha went undercover as a homeless woman for a few hours to discover the injustices of America? And remember when Oprah took off her jeans on national television? Or how about when Martha ripped a loose thread off a fake Chinatown handbag and proceeded to floss her teeth with it? So many groundbreaking moments of television, so little time …

I think the asterisk, and the related question, pulls it together. Thank God. Also, nice "Martha" hair and really nice "Oprah" hips. What a self-absorbed inividual.
I found that vagina puppet groundbreaking. And by groundbreaking I mean surreal and horrifying…
Tyra in no way, shape or form can compare to the likes of Oprah and Martha, those two are great examples of how women can advance in this world. While Tyra is just a self-absorbed individual who takes any opportunity to put herself in any situation to talk about herself.
I think the New York Times is going the way of CNN. That is; on their way out.
What does the asterisk say?
"Is she the next big female branded self?"
Whatever that means.
She looks like a fierce cobra.
Ugh. I hate Ty-Ty. Martha gave people great ideas on how to improve their home. Oprah helped break barriers for black women, and made people feel good about themselves. Tyra just spews her conservative bullshit and makes women feel bad for having sex, drinking, and being themselves; all the while promoting herself. Did anyone catch her sex episode where she had a sign on her chest saying she had sex on a runway, then it cut to a commercial break, came back, then the sign on her chest said NOT! underneath? Ooh you got us Ty-Ty! And wtf is going on in her stomach region in this picture? For real.
What? No Ellen? WTF?
queencrone: I see you fierce cobra, I raise you Oddly shaped sex-toy
ugh, I see your Oddly shaped sex-toy
(let me chuckle a minute……not done…OK..I'm ready…)
And I'll raise you, A Novelty Nutcracker.
great cover, good photo,beautiful
The similarity is that Tyra like Oprah has her own talk show. And stuggles with her weight.
Like Martha has created a world recognized pop culture brand. Ever heard of Americas Next top Model? They have one in Australia, UK, France, Japan & New Zeland. But since none of you acutally LIKE Tyra, I wouldn't expect you to know that.
