Will He Fight Mark Wahlberg?

In the wake of an awkward and unnecessary Sarah Palin appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, news comes that Lorne Michaels, who recently donated $4,600 to Barack Obama's presidential campaign, may have coaxed the Illinois senator into appearing on SNL the Saturday before the election.

I heard from one of Sarah???s aides this morning that at the obligatory SNL after party, a slightly affected Seth Meyers blurted out something to the effect of ??????yeah, but just wait til you see what we have cooked up for Obama???s appearance right before the election.??? You may remember that Obama ???canceled??? his appearance on the show on opening night because of Hurricane Ike. But sources now say that it could have been a ploy cooked up by Lorne Michaels and David Axelrod to save Obama for the November 1st show??? right before the election.

COMEDY IS IN THE TANK!

I don't know why, but I don't think that would be such a great idea.

SNL must have multiple orgasms when they realize an election is approaching. The presidential election satire is literally the only time the show is funny.

Except for that time Anne Hathaway-as-Mary Poppins was spreading "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" to unsuspecting males. That was kind of amusing.

If I were Obama, I'd pass on this one. I realize that he has a lot more fans at SNL than Palin, but just the same, it wouldn't be appropriate so near 11-4.

If Kenan Thompson plays "Dancin' Colin" I will quit the world.

However, if Will Forte plays anyone from Sarah Palin Parking Lot, I will reapply.

Lord knows what shenanigans will take place between now and then to address.

Why wouldn't it be appropriate?
Do you know what I find inappropriate? That Palin, less than two months after getting the VP nomination, and two weeks prior to the election, has done TWO interviews so far.
She hasn't been on "Meet the Press", but somehow, she found the time to drop a hockey puck in Philly, and to do SNL.
THAT, is inappropriate, and disrespectful.

Oooh, bad idea - I think one of Obama's principal accomplishments during the debates was appearing so much more "presidential" than McCain. An SNL appearance would have the exact opposite effect. And so close to Election Day? This would be a really big mistake. Please don't it, Barack!

Rachel;

I agree with you 100% about Palin. But I still feel that Obama's time would be better served campaigning that close to 11-4; not appearing on SNL. I also agree with Anthony.

Hell, he doesn't even have to be campaigning. Remember Giuliani going on SNL in a house dress? Not the hotness. And that shit has plagued him. Do it the week after. I'd be down with Obama being the first current president to go on SNL. Or maybe not.

DON'T DO IT, OBAMA!

Sarah Palin needed the "gravitas"(?) offered by Lorne Michael's money-grubbing, pandering platform. You're much, much better than that. At the very least, you don't incite shouts at your rallies like, "Kill her!"

Don't legitimize SNL's amorality.

While Sarah Palin presented herself well on SNL, she didn't do anything to help her campaign. I am not a McCain/Palin supporter but I was nevertheless embarassed for her. I agree with Chelsea. If he waits a week or so, he could celebrate his victory in a very brief, dignified walk-on, when he would be preferably not mocked but rather treated as the hero he is.

Don't they always do a presidential election special a couple days before the election? I remember they did it with Gore, Bush and Ventura in '00 (not sure about '04), and I heard that when Palin was there last week she recorded something that would be shown later. That's my guess for what Meyers was referring to.

Obama should do what he wants! No one will be watching except for 13 and 14 year old babysitters who aren't old enough to vote! The elderly are in bed at that hour and it is Halloween weekend! Everyone over 16 and under 60 will be out partying! I am sick of this election, already know who I am voting for and SNL spots do not matter anymore!
