USA! USA! USA!
Here it is: Barack Obama’s appearance on The View in which he addresses his church, the war and Brad Pitt. In less than an hour, this man withstood Barbara Walters‘ attempts at flirting, gained the highly-coveted Sherri Shepherd vote and managed to not punch Elisabeth Hasselbeck in the face. If that’s not a presidential candidate worth voting for, we don’t know what is.
The rest of his apperance after the jump.

soft ball inteviews Barbara Walters ‘ Larry King,
I would want to vote for him more had he punched Elizabeth.
I think he did a great job. Notice that when he walked to the couch, he hugged everyone EXCEPT Elizabeth (unless he did it when the camera cut away). His appearance showcased his charm, calm demeanor, and intelligence.
He Baracks my world
<3
NOT THIS CHELSEA
He is amazing. If this guy is not our next president we will be so f#c&8@!!
didn’t he say we should all accept eachother? if so his failure to hug elizabitch along with everyone else makes him kind of a hypocrite.
“managed to not punch Elisabeth Hasselbeck in the face.”
And this is why I’ll never be president, the temptation would be too great for me to overcome. Tee-hee.
Ah yes, the coveted Sheri Shephard vote. Considering she said she wasn’t going to vote because she didn’t know where it was I’m thinking that she will do wonderful things for the Clinton campaign
“didn’t he say we should all accept eachother? if so his failure to hug elizabitch along with everyone else makes him kind of a hypocrite.”
Or it makes him a person aware that someone else might not be totally comfortable with his affection and willing to respect that.
i’m w/deimos- hypocrite
Wow, really? Because TV has never been known to edit something one way to lead viewers to believe something other than what happened. If you’ve followed this election for one sincere moment you would know Barack Obama would not walk by Elizabeth and ignore her. Seriously, turn off The Hills for five minutes and expand your mind to whats really going on in the world. You’ll be amazed.
SMe just schooled these comments.
or you could just calm down and realize that not everything should be taken so seriously?
I cant believe no one is talking about him saying this- “take the five of the stupidest things you’ve ever said” (to Eliz.) and the look/grin on Joy’s face. He just got my vote.
And people actually thought GWB is/was charismatic.
Wow … i think that man should go into politics!
To put it mildly, Elizabeth Hasslebeck is an ignorant moron. I am soo bothered by her argumentative questions. She is the epitome of why people hate our country. Ignorant, blonde , dumb cheerleader who has accidentally found herself in a powerful position where she feels the need to flap her gums and spew NONSENSE and far right conservatism. Good attempt at ruining his appearance on your pathetic show. Being on survivor sure gave you a shitload of street cred in the political arena. You dumb dumb cunt.
Thank god for Obama… I am so happy that he gave Elisabeth what she deserves. She is very ignorant and self centered, she kept trying to throw things at him to make him break but he got her good with the 5 dumbest things remark he should have said the 100 dumbest things that she has said. I think Elisabeth should be removed from the view she is a complete idiot.
And as for her taxes does it really matter she is living off her husbands no talent self anyway
This guy is a slimy politician exactly like all the rest.
In this interview he stated that his family minister, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, “acknowledged that his remarks had offended some people”… not that he apologized for his remarks, or retracted his remarks, or admitted that he has routinely over the course of many years preached hateful racist sermons against numerous non-African groups, or that he has delivered extremely inflammatory anti-American screeds and called upon the Almighty directly from his pulpit to “God damn America!”, or that he needed to look within himself and root out his own prejudices.
No, he merely had “offended” some people.
Well fuck me! Even the KKK or the Aryan Nation will “acknowledge” that much. Hell, that’s their whole point for existing-to direct their hatred against people who look different and try to persuade others to hate as passionately as they do.
Jeremiah Wright is a fucking viperous hatemonger and racist every bit as much as Ayatollah Khomeini or Adolph Hitler. And Barack Obama is a weasly politician who wants to have it both ways: assuage “Whitey” by making a half-assed pseudo-apology for Reverend Wright while not pissing off the Black racists in his flock by actually condemning Wright and what he stands for.
If any of you really believe that Obama could attend this man’s church for twenty - that’s TWENTY - twenty years without ever having heard a single unkind word escape his lips, then you are so deluded that you are beyond hope.
“I don’t recall, Senator”.
“Mistakes were made”.
“I didn’t inhale”.
“People were offended”.
The roster of political cop-outs continues to grow.
“I don’t recall, Senator.”

The list of political cop-outs continues to grow.
Is it just me or did anyone else hear Elizabeth say “I was thinking the same thing” when Sherri said she would campaign for Obama?
And… I should never comment without watching the video first! I was actually watching this live and he stopped, exchanged pleasantries with Elisabeth, and shook hands. I still don’t think he hugged her. But yeah, he didn’t completely ignore her like this video may lead some to believe.
@S a v v y M e,
Ditto!
Even though I did not want to dignify Jbonz with a response, I will say this…JBONZ…no one here GIVES A FAT FUCK that he attended the church for 20 years because it is completely idiotic to believe that your minister wholly dictates your ability to run a country. He actually had the perfect response…Jeremiah Wright lived through a time where he was actually discriminated against so he occassionally made certain remarks based on his own life experiences. Can’t you fucking understand that? No? because that shit never happened to you or your Waspy republican gun wielding gran pappy and grammy. The closest thing white people in this country ever experienced was the Dust Bowl or the Okies and that shit didnt even count because it wasn’t mass discrimination. In addition, you cite Khomeini and the KKK as an examples of being able to admit to wrong doing? First and foremost, Differentiate between people who have actually been wronged and then preach hatred, from people who merely draw upon years of racism and lynchings as part of their history. Last time I checked, blacks did not enslave whites. To put things more in context for you Reverend Wright was speaking to a primarily African American congregation from a liberation theology perspective on the south side of Chicago. That congregation and many other similarly situated churches would find nothing unusual about Wright’s sermon or delivery because most of their grandparents and parents experienced the same exact discrimination and SLAVERY you moron… Nevertheless, it should not be assumed that every member of Trinity agrees with everything that Wright pronounces. Blessed would be the preacher, minister, reverend, or rabbi that spoke to an audience that agreed with everything said in the pulpit and then decided to run a fucking country based on the church because last time I checked there is still a separation of church and state in this country. But Bush would not have you believe that either these days. Good night and God bless.
Elizabeth etc:
So you’re saying that if John McCain was found to be attending KKK rallies where a cracker minister was praying to God that America be freed from the dark races, you don’t think it would affect his ability to be Commander-In-Chief of our armed forces because you don’t buy the “guilt by association” argument?
Thanks for the input.
Elizabeth etc:
If I didn’t know better I’d think you were channeling Rev Wright.
First off, your posting is just dripping with racial hatred:
“Waspy republican gun wielding gran pappy and grammy”
That’s a very intelligent and open-minded thing to say.
Secondly, I can’t imagine what your references to the dust bowl are meant to convey, unless you are obsessed with suffering and just can’t see the world through any other perspective.
Thirdly, I don’t cite Khomeini and Hitler as “examples of being able to admit wrongdoing” as you put it; they are examples of people who have made a name for themselves by inciting racial hatred and used religion to further their bigoted ideas (just like your Reverend Wright).
Fourthly, you state that Blacks didn’t enslave Whites. True, but they did enslave blacks in their role as sellers of captured enemy tribesmen in the slave market. Spare me the “Holy Africa” arguments.
Fifthly, you say that “Reverend Wright was speaking to a primarily African American congregation from a liberation theology perspective on the south side of Chicago. That congregation and many other similarly situated churches would find nothing unusual about Wright’s sermon or delivery…”. In other words, hatred, bigotry and racism is “the Black perspective” and most Blacks consider it business as usual. That’s really sad.
Sixthly, I stand by my assertion that a person cannot spend twenty years following a spiritual leader without sharing most of that leader’s ideas. I am an atheist myself; it would be ridiculous for me to attend church because I don’t believe what is being taught there. The same is true for Barack Obama.
If you’d read my posting carefully you’d see that I am not anti-black but anti-racism and anti-hypocrisy. I invite you to join us.
