Are people not supposed to get excited when they see the potential next president? Frankly, I don't want Obama to be just like us. We watch 3 hours of TV a day. And, it's refreshing to see someone who merits all the attention.

People take Heidi & Spencer's pictures and they're not celebs, either.

To be fair, people do the same thing for McCain. The only difference is they use the old timey cameras on tripods with flash powder. You know, cuz he's old.

I do not like Bush (I will not say hate), nor will I vote for McCain for any reason, but if they walked by me I would for sure take a picture. So duh people will take pictures of Obama.
Back 10 years ago when I lived in Dallas, Ross Perot walked by my office window (he was going to look into buying Texas Instruments land -I worked in the fitness center). If I had a camera phone at that time I would have totally snapped one of him and showed everyone. I would have looked like one of those people, but I would have been all alone. Which may have made me a border line stalker.

What everyone else said. I don't like Obama, but I'd still take his picture. Actually, while nannying in NY State 5 years ago, I saw Bill Clinton mini-golfing at an old school amusement park. So guess what I have a picture of? Bill Clinton shaking hands with people while trying to enjoy a game of mini-golf. (I shook his hand too! So exciting!) Pics of politicians by us common folk are nothing new.

When I lived in Maine my visiting friends always wanted to go to Kennebunkport to "look at the president." (This was during GHWB's time.) And none of them ever voted for him.

I agree with Billy, of course Barak Obama is a celebrity, he's nearly as famous as Paris Hilton over here in Britain.
