Yes, I get that he sacrified his transition into manhood in order to have a baby. But isn't that one of the reasons he kept his uterus in the first place?

It's not a medical miracle. And women make sacrifices every day to have babies, there's no reason why this guy should be put up on such a pedestal.

I agree Kitchy (and I'm shocked you and Cord actually agree). My mom likes to tell me what she sacrificed when she had me… her body, sanity and "the money she planned to save so she could retire to Germany".

This is such a freakshow. I think I'm pretty liberal too but dang, this is too much for even me.

I honestly think the pictures themselves are great. I just don't get why they need to be public other than the attention factor.

And I don't get why we have to see them brushing their teeth together.

I'm disappointed Cord, I thought you were more progressive than degrading a TRANSGENDER MAN to "a woman with a crew cut". And all the people with their "i'm liberal but this is too much", give me a break. take your fragile tolerance of people who are different from you and get over yourself.

I can't wait for us to be non-plussed by a story (or a photo) like this and the only way that's going to happen is to expose (maybe overexpose) it to people especially considering it still makes them (even the liberals) sick or uncomfortable…

Lauren, get over yourself. being "liberal" doesn't mean you must accept such ridiculous bullshit. transgender is a self applied label. it does not mean a sexual operation has taken place and does not mean they have switched sexual genders in the physical sense(ie females have vaginas, males have penises). this woman can identify as a man, because she feels that way. but biologically speaking, (and biology is what were talking about when speaking of her pregnancy), it's just a woman without breasts. If you want to see a real man pregnant, go watch Junior.

Matt, I agree with Lauren. "Woman with a crew cut" is a mockery. I also agree with Cord that biologicaly he is a woman and that his pregnancy is no marvel. Saying he's just a "woman with a crew cut" is insensitive, though. It's a cruel simplification. And I understand it adds to the humor, but I think transgenders get made fun of enough.

There was a movie in the '70's called "That Man is Pregnant!" about this cop whose gf was a bra-burning ERA feminist, and her gang or whatever kidnapped him, implanted a uterus, and knocked him up. It sounds really bad, and it was, but it was HILARIOUS!!! I enjoyed Chunior (yes, on purpose) too but for preggo man movies "That Man. . ." wins, if only because of the outfits. Oh yeah, about the pregnant dude, I'm more worried about his butchered-up mastectomy. The hell?!? Are they always that rough? I thought they were a little more discreet nowadays, but I've never actually seen one, any thoughts?

Mockery is one of the reasons i come to this blog. There is so much hoopla over this person having a baby, it was refreshing for Cord to put the situation back into its place. there is no man miraculously having a baby! its a woman, with a man's haircut (traditionally), who has removed her breasts, not for health reasons, but simply for the aesthetic. She wants to be a man, so she does these things, then bares the most essential female act for everyone to gawk at. Why wouldn't she keep her breasts? "Look, a man with breasts is pregnant!"

As far as my reference to Arnold in Junior, that actually is a man..but the pregnancy is fake.

I guess what disturbs me most about this is that he was taking a shit ton of drugs to be a man and then decides to have a baby. Seems like that is not physically ideal for the baby - they had to go to a few doctors before they found one that would go through with invitro (and I'm sure it wasn't just because they didn't want to impregnate a "man").

I'm torn! You see, I have a uterus and a penis and I'm having a baby and I just have the one little hole. So, I'm just going to tear my penis and I know it will hurt but then I will breastfeed and then it will feel like it was all worth it. Thank God in the heavens that Target started carrying those jock straps for pregnant people whose penis keeps leaking amniotic sac fluid, I hear they also have a scented variety too.

Thisperson has a vagina and uterus. Medically speaking, Thomas is a woman. It's not strange or a miracle for a woman to have a baby. Just because hormones have givenher facial hair doesn't make her biologicially a man. No matter how much like a man he/she may claim to be, biologically, we're discussing a female for whom conception and gestation is no more a miracle than it is for any other female.

i haven't even read any of the comments. but i NEED to say that having a vagina and uterus makes you FEMALE. the fact that being biologically female 99.9% of the time corresponds to identifying as a woman (sociological term, not biological) is irrelevant here. 'man' vs 'woman' is not a matter of genitals, cord. come on now …. LGBT! we can't pick and choose when it comes to wishing for equality.
