The Sex and the City hoopla has subsided, so that means the producers are willing to spill secrets from the movie's original plot.
If you haven't seen the movie and don't want to be spoiled, we suggest not clicking through.
First, a character really was supposed to die, but it wasn't Mr. Big or any of the leading ladies: "Anna Meara, who played Steve's mom, was set to pass away in a scene meant to show that even though Steve had cheated on Miranda, she still cared for him enough after their separation to visit her mother-in-law in the hospital." Did anyone really think they would kill off one of the leads? That is ridiculous.
Second, the 148-minute film was actually meant to be much longer, but multiple story lines were cut. Did anyone catch Harry in his two minor scenes? He originally wasn't forgotten — the actor had a story line that involved a 21-year-old braless nanny. Sounds like cinematic gold.
And lastly, the time limit killed the return of Carrie's ex-boyfriend Aidan: "With the movie 'busting at the seams,' [the director] had to cut an 'amazing scene' for John Corbett." Good thing we missed a potentially dramatic scene that may have showcased character growth in favor of Charlotte pooping her pants. Nice move, producers.

This movie was over-hyped.
So it really was as bad as it looked.
I heard that they didn't bring John Corbett back because they didn't want to bring him back for a small part. Of course, it could have something to do with the fact that John Corbett retired from acting…
was there also another story arc that made black people look even mo po' and ignant than jennifer hudson?
Saw it tonight at a free invite-only screening. It was absolutely awful. The only saving grace was Kim Cattrall (occasionally) and an expensive pair of shoes featured at the end.
I want that 148 minutes of my life back.
Did people tune into SATC because it was a brilliant story line and cinematography? I didn't think so.
Agreed Mae. No one expected it to really be any different than the show, right? I really enjoyed the movie but I think that was because I didn't expect a whole lot. That and the bottle of champagne I brought in with me…
There were several parts in the movie when there was a knock at the door or a turn around the corner and I said "Watch its going to be Aidan" but it wasn't. What did people expect? I thought it was good, a "catch up" of the series. Maybe I loved it because I am a 31 year old stay at home mom who lives vicariously through the characters, but so were the other 6 women I went with (insert no life joke here)
There was one thing I didn't particularly like about the movie, though. WTF is up with the scenes where you could see the boom mics? I mean seriously…it wasn't just like "Oh oops, there's the mic for .5 secs". It was definitly a good minute or so of the movie that no one caught. Where the hell were the editors on that one? Someone dropped the ball.
I found the hype very empowering.
also, did lily have to be at every girl event? i was expecting to see her in mexico sippin a cosmo…
I didn't understand the whole Lily thing. A girl that age should have been talking a lot more than she did. My friend kept whispering in my ear "is that little girl challenged?" I couldn't stop laughing.
Wait — a (grown up) character pooped her pants?? Were they trying to go all Rabelaisian on us?
I loved the movie! I agree with Mae, they aren't trying to win an Oscar! It was a prefect extension of the show.
I was so confused by the boom mics, too! Initially I thought it was an allusion to season 1 which had terrible blocking. Then it dragged on for so long that my friends and i thought it was the guy dealing with the reel nodding off or something. Either you were at the same screening as me or the producers thought it would be funny. In fact, it ruined a very intense scene with Big and Carrie.
The movie was not all it was hyped up to be. That beig said I am a HUGE FAN OF SATC…however, the movie seemed lacking of plot.. where were Carrie's questions? Analyzing with her friends @ a coffee house?! And I agree…I would prefer Aidan over SEVERAL scenes they did include…such as Charlotte shitting herself! Also, the charaters were not played up enough, where were all of Miranda's zingers?! Before 50 billion of you jump down my throat - I GET that it was a movie not a SERIES and you can do more in a series!!!! But geez, I expected more from the movie than what we got!!!
