And She's Gonna Plead Guilty

TMZ has learned—"EXCLUSIVELY!", no doubt—that Nicole Richie will enter a plea of either no contest or guilty in her court appearance today. And that means she's going to the hoosegow.

She will appear before the Court Commissioner, who will sentence her on the spot. Sources say Richie will receive a minimum sentence of five days in jail. By law, anyone with two DUI convictions must serve at least five days. This conviction will be Nicole's second DUI.

Owning up to mistakes is a virtue, and entering a plea that all but guarantees you'll to go to jail shows respect for the criminal justice system and yourself. Good for her. Bad for Starbucks, of course. What are they going to do with that surplus of venti nonfat lattes?

I'll need to see it to believe it. After watching Lindsay and Britney publicly unravel, I'd be happy to see one of these girls take responsibility. If it does go down as planned that is.

i would bet a lot of it has to do with her hoping to get the 5 days rather than 3 months she could get. "im pregnant and responsible." the court is less likely to go hard.

I agree with April, but at the same time if it's true I do have a lot more respect for Nicole than for Paris or Lindsay. Even if it's to protect herself from jail time, it's still owning up to it. It may be just for appearances rather than truly feeling she did something wrong, but it's a step in the right direction.

Nice. I got more time when I accidentally stole condoms from K-mart. Hello- I was trying to give the system a break and not put any more of my kids into foster care. How about ME being responsible, you know?!
