Birds of a Feather

bushbono

You're aware that Bono is a self-indulgent, hypocritical Muppet, right? If not, do read up about how the Nobel-nominated singer and his band ran away with their publishing empire to the Netherlands in order to avoid the tax laws of Ireland and keep their many millions of dollars away from social welfare programs.

When you're done with that, laugh hard at how much sense it makes that the "benevolent" rock star is now the godfather of Brad and Angelina's new twins, who have sparked protests in Nice for being of more interest to the local government than murders.

And I bet he "forgot" to have his personal camera crew follow him around and record his every move for posterity like when he goes out to oil rigs in the name of Greenpeace, (not love) and then tries to save the cute baby harp seals. I guess that bankers aren't cute enough creatures.

My hatred for Mario Lopez resembles a furry kitten when compared to the King Koopa that is my hatred for Bono.

How sad that Brangelina doesnt have any family or close friends to bestow this honor upon and had to resort to celebrity endorsements. Yeah real sad.

Cord, thank you so much for telling everyone about him. I've known this for years and it angers me so much. He claims to be so proud of his heratige, yet he wants to do nothing to help his people. He's the exact opposite of proud, he's merely clutching to the historical trials and tribulations of his people and using it to make him seem ethereal and deep. He's a ponce Irishman. Plus, he accepted an OBE, so there's that whole thing….

I have to admit that surprises me. Ireland is known for having a taxfree-policy for artists.

No. 7 Force Bono to Retire says:

that's not the half of it

how about how self-righteous all of his philanthropy efforts are

the grassroots leaders of the movements to fight AIDS & poverty that Bono simply installs himself as the frontman of have called Bono's efforts dangerous and counter-productive

The RED Campaign spent $40 million more than it raised on marketing costs. Basically it was 1 giant GAP ad that only succeeded in telling consumers all you have to do to fight AIDS is buy more stuff!

Meanwhile in Bono & Geldoff's BAND AID song there are totally condescending & ignorant lyrics about Africa…

"in the land where nothing grows, where no rain nor rivers flow"

uh…how about the Nile? This is more dangerous than outright stupid, because it perpetuates an image of Africa that is disempowered and desperate, when what Africa really needs to solve the systemic problems it faces are to build on its assets.

I for one have had enough of Bono, and am part of a campaign to make Bono retire. We're raising $ pledges that will go towards AIDS, but the money only goes there when Bono retires from public life. Check it out:
