Oh the Simpson Sisters, sort of terrifying when you put them side by side like this.

Ashlee and Jessica were both in New York this week, promoting themselves in various ways, and clearly not staying at the same hotel as they are seen here leaving their respective accomodations. You'd think, considering how glowingly they speak of one another that they would want to spend as much sisterly time together as possible, but, uh, it seems that there's a little more than a friendly dose of competition betwixt Papa Joe's blondies. Despite gushing with excitement on TRL over Ashlee's Wednesday night concert, Jessica couldn't really find the time to actually show. Page Six reports:

HORDES of teenage girls turned out to see Ashlee Simpson sing at the Victoria's Secret party celebrating its new Pink line at Pier 54 Wednesday night - but not Ashlee's sister, Jessica . Although she was in town, Jessica skipped the performance, sending word she "didn't want to steal Ashlee's spotlight." But we hear she wanted to avoid any chance of running into Vanessa Min nillo, the "ET" correspondent dating her ex, Nick Lachey. Minnillo had been thinking of stop ping by. "At the last minute, Vanessa decided not to go," said our spy.

Minnillo or no, Jessica coulda found a way to see her sister. I'm just surprised Jessica didn't come out with something even more passive aggressive like I didn't want to steal Ashlee's spotlight, since, you all know, she's really worked hard recently for it by starving herself and going under the knife, oops, I wasn't supposed to say that, but it's true you know, I'm all natural…and daddy likes me more.
