Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag (whose father owns a restaurant) don't seem to grasp the concept of tipping well at dinner. The most annoying couple on the planet took two "friends" out to an LA restaurant this weekend and ran up a $783 bill. The couple tipped $16. Luckily for the waiter, a producer from The Hills — who was at the restaurant filming scenes for the upcoming season — gave him $60 from his own pocket to cover the rest of the tip. (Note: A minimal 15 percent tip would have been over $117.)
So we're guessing Heidiwood isn't selling that well?

is anyone surprised? no? okay, just checking…
Um, 20% is standard now. Get with the program.
My favorite thing to do with people like this is to ask, very politely, in front of all their friends, "Was there anything wrong with the service? Do you have any recommendations for improvement?" and when they inevitably ask why, just note that they left you a 2% tip so you figured there must be an explanation.
Nothing like a little public humiliation to make people smarten up. That, or they just wait 5 times as long for everything next time they show up.
a bill of $783 and a tip of $16… i call bullshit on this for the simple fact that that makes it $799 … although it does make me laugh to think that maybe spencer was trying to go for a round number and got his second grade math wrong
probably the latter…
I loathe bad tippers and anyone who treats an employee in any sort of service industry poorly.
Litmus test for a date? How does s/he treat your waiter or waitress?
I'm sure they thought it was tip enough just to get to wait on thier sorry asses. He is really weird looking….
scum! there's nothing worse than a poor tipper, it pisses me off to no end. shit, i'm pretty much broke, but i always leave a good tip, & if i could afford it, i would leave $100 tips. working in the service industry sucks so hard, dealing with assholes & adults throwing tantrums like little kids when something isn't the exact way they think it should be. waitresses deserve medals for what they have to put up with.
Bless stopthemadnesseesseesss heart. Her fistseseseesseess are exhaused.
*exhausted* (so am I)
Ok, I do hate this couple BUT my friend actually waited on them probably about 7 months ago and said they were very nice and they tipped huge so they probably were just expecting the Hills crew to pick up the tab, which honestly, I'd probably do too.
Errin, if they were expecting that, why did they PAY THE BILL and leave $16 for tip?
Um……$783 is the TOTAL of the bill….ya gotta subtract the food/alcohol tax from that and then figure out the tip. So I estimate the $76 tip was decent (but still way low for a celeb).
So unless your server is named Uncle Sam, don't tip the goverment.
It's all true! I work at the restaurant that it happened. It was a $900 bill and they left $18.
