As Barack Obama gets closer and closer to locking up the Democratic nomination, the hootin’ and hollerin’ about him being a buh-lack Muzzlin is gaining volume.
The t-shirt at right is for sale in a bar in Cobb County, Georgia; in Indiana, one Obama campaigner was told by a citizen: “Hang that darky from a tree!“; and it is widely accepted that part of the reason Obama was defeated by such a huge margin in yesterday’s West Virgina primary is because of the color of his skin. This from an article about West Virginia Clinton supporters:
“I’m going to write in Hillary on the ballot [if Obama gets the nomination],” Jester said outside the IHOP, crushing her half-smoked cigarette. “I want to see a woman in there before I see a . . . ” She stopped, and her sister finished the sentence with: “a man of color.”
And these are the Democrats!

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd…. they spoke out against someone they find to be cartoonish, a old bully druggie, unstatesmanlike, member of a racist church he didn’t know was racist and anti-America, throws those that stand in his way under the bus and takes no personal blame.. and is unreliable on voting and performing his job in the senate? Think he’s a fool and will be fooled by people smarter than him, because he has no certain government management agenda he can declare to prove he’s smart other than bragging? I don’t get the worry on their rebuttal. He’s against not rich white people hating any other people he says; as if not rich white people only do this, nor is he proud of the USA in terms of respecting the will and rights of the black man and people of other colors getting more than whites, can’t speak legibly on any subject.. like pretty puffy clouds of air you hear and envsion.. but no substance and is miffed some white people don’t like him to put them down for their freedom to choose how to live in their America lifestyle? By the way he is more arab and white than black, so he must be strange or something to feel he is primarly black and must fight for the man of African descent? Or is that racist?
@ buzzKat
Maybe not racist, but certainly uninformed and circuitous and paranoid and weird.
buzzkut’s comments are beyond weird, paranoid and delusional. I would say, put down the pipe, you are “buzzing” enough. I mind is a terrible thing to waste.
West Virginia, that state doesn’t count anyway :)
This site furthers the racist agenda by calling him a muslim.
He’s christian.
I’m so tired of hearing about this shit.
Ugh, what is your problem? Clinton can win a state on her OWN. Don’t associate her with what some “racist” said. It’s disgusting.
Ya know, it’s sort of insulting (and a little racist when you think about it) to assume that the ONLY reason Obama lost is because he is black. Isn’t it entirely possible that Hillary won outright and on her own merit because people prefer her as a candidate, and not as a WHITE candidate?
Granted, the idiots who spout the kind of hate mentioned in the article does exist, but to think that if Hillary or McCain are voted for simply to “keep the black man down” is a little insulting.
I don’t like any of them. I think Hillary has a lot of empty promises and double-talk. I simply don’t agree with McCain’s politics, and I simply don’t know what Obama stands for except “change”. He’s simply too evasive for me and seems too elitist. I’m voting for Bret Michaels.
that’s all obama needs to stand for; it’s not as if much in the past 8 years nationally has been working. nothing in west virginia has changed in the past 60 years; brain drain, racism, no viable industry other than dangerous coal-mines. you’d think west virginians would be chomping at the bit for change. i guess that’s just the elitism talking.
Bret Michaels FTW!
West VIrginia….. dang! yep, ain’t nothin’ like it.
Why do Americans put up with this shit. Send racists to get their “brains” cleaned. They are not on the same intellectual level as normal people and need serious help for the mental health issues.
How you even give people like this a hearing is beyond me. They’re scum.
I really don’t understand this “elitism” shit. What politician isn’t “elitist”?
And why is that such a bad thing anyway? I WANT my president to be a fucking genius! It’s not a job for the average guy.
In any case, McCain is loaded and married to a woman who is even more loaded. The Clintons have over $100 million, and obama isn’t living paycheck to paycheck.
By saying Obama is elitist, are you saying McCain and Clinton are your average working stiffs? That’s clearly as bullshit as the idea that Bush didn’t come from wealth and fortune.
Elitist? Great!
In my rage-addled state, I forgot to point out my diatribe isn’t intended for the OP, but to blah and anyone else who buys into the notion that an elite person is bad for president.
Gee, Cord, so wouldn’t it be widely accepted that part of the reason Hillary lost a primary would be because of her gender?
Seriously folks, its West Virginia. If you honestly think racism wasn’t the largest factor in this than your grossly mistaken and ill-informed.
Also, I agree with Darren. We’re kidding ourselves if we think the President is “just like us.” Anytime I watch/read the news and have to listen to ignorant fools spout off that they wouldn’t vote for a black man (or a woman) it makes me sick and makes me thankful that the President isn’t like the “average American.”
I agree w/ darren - if anyone can be an elitist, it can (and should) be the President. And seriously, how can Obama be considered an elitist? He probably has more in common with most Americans than the other 2 candidates.
And speaking of elitism, why is it ok for candidates to put on nascar shirts and drink whiskey to appeal to the lowest scumbags in America? I am more disgusted by that then Obama talking about arugula.
Blah, I might be willing to suspend belief and think that maybe, truly there are people out there that truly back Hillary for herself, but I think West Virginia isn’t the case. This is the state that, since 1959, has elected & reelected an admitted KKK leader/recruiter.
And on another note, most people (other than the postmenopausal feminists) I know voted for Hillary to give Bill another term in office not because they want anything to do with her. Hillary not only plays the race card, she REVELS in playing it. She, admittedly, is courting the poorly educated individuals and exploiting them for her own purposes. She has never been poor, never known what it is like to worry whether she’d have a roof over her head every night.
As a Republican, I am also tired of hearing that Democrats are the only ones that aren’t racists and that Republicans are racist. I am not a racist and most of my Republican friends and family are not racist. The worst racists I personally know are actually Democrats. No party that allows Robert Byrd to represent them cannot claim that it holds the no racist card. Lest ye forget, the Republican party is the party of Lincoln. The Democrats fought tooth and nail against emancipation of the slaves.
If I don’t vote for Obama on election day (I am still 50/50 on McCain or Obama), it will have nothing to do with the color of his skin. My biggest problem with him is his health care plan. I encourage all voters to vote based on policy, not who the person is or the color of his skin.
No kudos to Jon Stewart for ripping off his ‘elitist’ sentiment there Darren??
When I get around to watching the Daily Show again, I’ll give credit where it’s due Leslie. In the meantime, I do have the ability to think for myself. Try it sometime!
And some of you scoffed when I said I was worried about the redneck factor and the chance McCain could end up as president.
*Doing the told ya’ so dance.*
I’m from West Virginia. I can say from 24 years of experience that the state is beautiful and the people are some of the friendliest you’ll meet.
Now, that’s not to say I EVER want to talk to them about religion or politics, because unfortunately the stereotypes are true in this case. I didn’t vote there - I went to college out of state, in Ohio, and chose to keep my voter’s registration there knowing that’s where my vote would count more. But the vast majority of my WV-residing family voted for Obama.
So while it’s true that as a whole the state is uneducated, racist, and freakily religious - there are always exceptions to the rule. Keep that in mind whenever you make sweeping generalizations about a group of people.
Also, this is the Jon Stewart quote in question and yes, I agree with every fucking word of it:
“Doesn’t elite mean ‘good?’ Is that not something we’re looking for in a president anymore? … I know elite is a bad word in politics. You want to go bowling and throw back a few beers. But the job you’re applying for—if you get it and it goes well—they might carve your head into a mountain. If you don’t actually think you’re better than us, then what the fuck are you doing? … Not only do I want an elite president, I want someone who is embarrassingly superior to me.”
to all you hillary peeps, not to fret. i don’t think cord was insinuating that a clinton win = a win for the racists freaks of america. just that there are some really, really, scary-as-hell, totally racist disgusting people within the democratic party.
in the same vein, don’t you love how being a muslim is just AUTOMATICALLY considered the worst thing ever? i mean, i completely understand why obama needs to clarify that he is, in fact, a christian…but as a non-practicing muslim, it’s seriously starting to frighten me a bit…you know, i was going to go to nashville this summer to visit a friend, but now i find myself hesitant to leave new york…
him winning largely black pop. states is not racial? 90% black vote?
Bill Clinton won the black vote by percents in the 90’s both terms. I didn’t see anyone whinging then.
Every Democratic presidental candidate has tended to carry the black vote in the 90’s; candidates, you might recall, which have all BEEN WHITE.
It amazes me that people only find this historical voting pattern an issue to bring up when it’s benefiting Obama.
Racism is still alive in America? I am shocked!
What about sexism? Is there still a glass ceiling? What about men with the Madonna Whore complex.
Am I a whore because my skin is black and I lived in NYC? Can I have a date with a white man and not be considered an ‘escort’?
What is my profession?
Am I educated?
Am I a wealthy women?
