Mel Gibson isn't the only person interested in Britney Spears' love life as of late: TMZ has been keeping tabs on the pop star and her secret rendezvous with a mystery man. Sadly, that mystery man is all too recognizable — it's Adnan Ghalib, former paparazzo and Spears hanger-on.

TMZ's "sources" have reported that over the last few months Adnan has been entering the gated community where Brit and father Jamie live, but no one can say exactly what's going on. But we can! Adnan missed the spotlight, Britney missed her enabler, and it was time for a special reunion. And yes, there are text messages involved.

We know they have been texting back and forth, at times complaining that Daddy Jamie is too 'controlling' by trying to put the kibosh on the relationship.

But here's the deal. Daddy Jamie's job is to be controlling — that's what a conservator does. And, sources tell us, Jamie's concern over his daughter seeing Adnan is not just his opinion — the doctors who are treating Brit have told him it would be a bad thing for Brit to hook up with the dude.

Well, duh. If any doctor in America were to recommend that Britney associate with Adnan, someone needs to look into revoking that medical license.

Who didn't see this coming? Amanda Pagel, the waitress/model/former girlfriend of Make Me a Supermodel's Perry, is speaking out about Adnan Ghalib and insisting she didn't steal him from Britney Spears.

Amanda says she met Adnan through a mutual friend in January, and the two kept their relationship private — with him making frequent trips to her house — so as to not upset Britney.

He kept saying: As soon as she's better and back on her own two feet doing her own thing, we can go public. He told me he 'pitied' her and felt really sorry for her. She'd been through a lot and he used to say he was the only one that she trusted.

We can't figure out who tracked down whom at the Ed Hardy fashion show in LA; both parties are obviously very desperate for credibility. It doesn't really matter who initiated it, though, as long as the interview is awesome.

Drew Barrymore is donating $1 million to the World Food Programme to help feed children in Africa. She made this announcement, of course, on today's Oprah Winfrey Show.

Good news for Jamie Spears: Britney has reportedly dumped paparazzi hanger-on Adnan Ghalib after finding "saucy" text messages from other girls on his phone. Took you long enough, B.

There were about a dozen [text messages] from one girl, all sent on one day. They were pretty saucy stuff with sexual references — certainly not the sort you’d send to just a friend. Britney lost it and started yelling.

Surprise: There was Britney Spears drama last night. We're kind of overwhelmed by it all, but here's what happened in a nutshell: Britney and Sam Lutfi got in a fight, causing her to cry outside her house and call Adnan Ghalib to rescue her. Sam wouldn't allow Adnan inside the gates and turned off Britney's phones. Sam sent a text to Adnan saying he was a bad influence and would end up killing Britney (pot, meet kettle). Brit finally escaped with another paparazzi friend and drove around for a bit. Adnan blocked traffic along Sunset Boulevard, wooed Britney into his car, and left the other paparazzi guy in Brit's car in the middle of the street. Adnan and Brit got a flat tire, but managed to make it back to her house. During all this hooplah, Lynne Spears showed up and later accompanied Brit and Sam to a drug store.

We're out of breath.

Luckily, the paps were there to catch everything on film, in case you're confused. Our favorite part of the video, hands down, is when a tabloid reporter tries talking to Britney's dad; when Jamie Spears doesn't answer, the reporter tries to get him to talk by assuring he's "from In Touch." Jamie is having none of it. We always knew he was the brains of the family.

Well-publicized was Britney Spears' brief affair with paparazzo-cum-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib that ended amid rumors the lensman was using her to provide exclusive images to his photo agency Finalpixxx. News today asserts that Spears now has a restraining order against Ghalib.

While both Spears and Ghalib seem emotionally vacuous when asked about their breakup, shifty photo agency X17 must be elated. The dissolution of the relationship means that they can go back to paying Spears hundreds of thousands of dollars a month for sole access to information concerning her whereabouts (read: opportunities to take her picture).
