'OFFICE' SPINOFF-BUT-NOT-REALLY RECRUITS FAMILIAR FACE • "The Office alum Rashida Jones has joined the cast of NBC's 'don't-call-it-an-Office-spinoff' comedy starring Amy Poehler."

Amy Poehler's Smart Girls at the Party finally debuted with even more awesomeness and fanfare than we previously expected. The premiere episode features Cameron, a 10-year-old writer who has more potential in her pinky finger than all of Hollywood's starlets combined. Amy handles her like a pro and makes us hope that one day she can teach everyone's daughters how to be as great as her. The best part, however, is at the end, where there's a full-on dance party with Will Arnett and Kristen Wiig. Too many amazing people in one scene, if you ask us.
Now that there's no more election (or Tina Fey or Amy Poehler), Saturday Night Live got back to the basics this weekend: Surprise celebrity guest stars and men in women's clothing. For this episode (featuring adorable host Paul Rudd), Justin Timberlake showed up to seem likable for five minutes during a skit involving a Beyonce music video shoot. The former boy bander has become quite the tool as of late, but he always manages to be fairly awesome when he's on this show, so we approve.
The best part of last night's Saturday Night Live was actually a skit featuring Will Forte as a Halloween sexual predator, but stupid NBC won't release the video (much like the amazing Fancy Pants sketch from the season premiere). Instead, here's a clip of the opener, which parodied the Joe Biden and John Murtha remarks made at recent Obama rallies. It was fairly humorous, but not nearly as awesome as Kristen Wiig's tiny hands from a few weeks back.
On another note, why was Coldplay allowed to perform four times throughout the show? That seems a little unfair, no? If anyone has an explanation, feel free to enlighten us.
OK OK, one more thing and then we'll be done: Congrats to Amy Poehler, who had her baby Saturday night and was unable to make the show. Archie Arnett is the luckiest little boy in the world.
As if she's not busy enough — starring in Saturday Night Live every week, working on a new television sitcom and being pregnant — the magical Amy Poehler is starting a Web series titled Smart Girls at the Party. The show is basically what we all needed as preteens: It "aims to help girls find confidence in their own aspirations and talents, and to prove that you don't have to be famous to be interesting." We truly can't find one bad thing to say about Amy. That is one lucky baby in her womb.

SNL's Weekend Update moved to a new spot in lieu of the upcoming elections, and last night marked the first time the precursor to The Daily Show featured a mid-week special, hosted by Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler.
Was it funny? Meh. Was Bill Murray there? Ye-op:
The mere thought that Alaskan idiot Sarah Palin could very well be running our country in the near future is no longer funny — but Tina Fey's impression of the VP nominee is. The former SNL-er's shtick is so dead-on that we stopped laughing after a while because it's not even that exaggerated: This lady truly is absurd. Tina, you are the only one who can help us through this.

So last night I was invited to the premiere of Hounddog, the film that caused a lot of controversy a while back because it features a Dakota Fanning rape scene. After watching the movie, I can safely say that the fuss was overblown, but that's probably obvious at this point.
On to the good stuff: The red carpet! Where my spot along the velvet ropes was labeled "Whittle Little, Jossip.com." Awesome. CONTINUED »
IT'S CONFIRMED: 'SNL' IS GOING TO SUCK "Amy Poehler is spreading her small screen wings and flying away. She says she will take a break from Saturday Night Live after the November election to give birth to her first child. 'It's gonna be really hard — Boyz II Men hard — to say goodbye to yesterday,' Amy says in the new issue of Men's Vogue. 'SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down.'"
In response to Tina Fey's genius Sarah Palin impression on this weekend's Saturday Night Live (at right), McCain spokeswoman Carly Fiorina called Fey's portrayal "sexist" and "disrespectful." You know what? That's totally fair, because SNL never makes fun of any other political candidate. Oh wait…
Fiorina went on to say that "just because Sarah Palin has different views than Hillary Clinton does not mean that she lacks substance." Fair enough — so why haven't we seen it? The election is in six weeks, Carly. Time's a wastin'. Instead of calling a female comedian "sexist" when she very obviously is not, let's chat about that "substance."
SNL JUST GOT EVEN WORSE "'Saturday Night Live' star Amy Poehler may be ready for primetime after all. The actress is said to be in talks to star in the new NBC spin-off of 'The Office,' the trades report. Details about the show have been kept tightly under wraps and the only actor cast in the project so far is comedian Aziz Ansari. There has been speculation, however, that the show might be built around a name actor, similar to how the original 'Office' is anchored by Steve Carell. Still, the series, despite initially being called an 'Office' spin-off, isn’t expected to be one after all, Variety notes."

The CFDA Fashion Awards, held last night at the New York Public Library, honored excellence in fashion design but also served as a venue for Victoria Beckham to crash as many photo opportunities as possible.

'BABY MAMA' MAMA "Amy Poehler is not only pregnant on the big screen — she's expecting in real life, too. Her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com that the actress, 36, and her husband, actor Will Arnett, are expecting their first child this fall."

We have a huge crush on Arrested Development's Gob Bluth, which automatically leaks over to Will Arnett. He's seen here posing for a Radar magazine shoot, and the exquisiteness of the photos is simply breathtaking. Way better than that time Lindsay Lohan stripped for New York magazine.
Here's the full article, in which he constantly refers to the publication as Gaydar magazine and makes us fall even more in love.

Amy Poehler's genius impression of Christian Siriano on this weekend's Saturday Night Live caught the attention of the Project Runway winner, also known as Ferocia Coutoura:
I thought it was SO FUNNY. Amy [Poehler] looked exactly like me which is kinda scary, but fabulous. The fact that they are even talking about me is so fierce, fabulous and flawless and is such an honor. [Poehler] was hilarious and little. It was so crazy that she looked just like me! The hair was absolutely perfect. I don’t think I could have done it better myself. It was fierce!
… Ferocia needs a new vocab. Stat.

The photo spreads are in from Vanity Fair's article about funny women. We don't care enough to read the entire piece, because we already know what it says.
The pictures do plenty of talking: Some of today's most popular female comedians — including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Sarah Silverman, Chelsea Handler, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig and Jenna Fischer — are featured in ground-breaking photos … dressed up as celebrities. Clever.

Maya Rudolph is abandoning the slowly capsizing, ancient Saturday Night Live vessel, so do not expect to see her portrayals of Donatella Versace or Condoleezza Rice in this Saturday's season premiere. Do expect Amy Poehler's back to start hurting a whole hell of a lot.
