Kanye West, with his clothing line and suspiciously-active blog and new Comedy Central show, is obviously trying to expand his reach in the entertainment and business world. But one of his ventures has hit a road block. West recently shot a pilot for a new scripted-but-improvised comedy show on HBO with Larry Charles, the producer behind Curb Your Enthusiasm, Borat, and Bill Maher's upcoming Religulous. We might not ever see it.

Damnation

Borat director Larry Charles, on the intention of his new film, Religulous, starring Bill Maher:

'I don't think "debunk" is the right word,' said Charles at a press conference. 'I want to destroy more than debunk, just destroy the whole system.'

A NICE, SWEAR-LADEN SENDOFF "At a private memorial service Sunday attended by some 150 people … [George Carlin] was memorialized by comedians Bill Maher, Garry Shandling and others as someone who had no enemies, in part because he was nice to everyone he spoke to."

Yay! Just in time for perhaps the most important election in modern American history comes another film in which rich liberals literally laugh at poor conservatives. Yes we can!

Hot on the heels of the mockumentary hit Borat, which found Sacha Baron Cohen hilariously breaking the personal possessions of people with whom he didn't agree, judgmental comic Bill Maher is releasing Religulous, an attack film on your God. And attack he does: In the trailer alone, Maher says religion is worrisome, ridiculous (there's the title!) and crazy; he also compares God to Santa Claus and calls praying "murmuring." Who you calling elitist? Oh, right…

The thing is, we agree with Maher about a lot of this stuff, but does he really think the cultural landscape needs another 90 minute bundle of condescension? In our experience, try as one might, hurting people's feelings rarely changes their beliefs; so what do movies like Borat and Religulous provide but sideshow-style entertainment for Democrats on the coasts to enjoy in darkened rooms?

How Does He Do It?

How Bill Maher spends his evenings with any female — especially a relatively young and attractive one — is beyond us.

Bill Maher, whose proclivity to date black women is odd only because said women are consistently employed in the sex industry, is now being lambasted by Karrine Steffans (nicknamed "Superhead"), who reveals in a new interview everything you already knew about Maher: He's a condescending closeted racist who enjoys dating uneducated women of ill-repute so that he can verbally abuse and manipulate them with little opposition.

She says, "Bill wants someone he can put down in an argument, tell you how ghetto you are, how big your butt is, and that you're an idiot. That's why you never see him with a white girl or an intellectual…"

Isn't it scary that Superhead, herself a black woman, agrees that white women make less enjoyable puppets? Isn't it also scary that all day Wild Bill heralds liberalism and all night he puts down black porn stars? Isn't everyone so fucked in the superhead?

Bill Maher took the Steve Irwin costume a bit farther than common decency would dictate (must we have the actual stingray barb and fake blood? Really?), but that's just the kind of cocky motherfucker Maher is. Thoughts on the Politically Incorrect costume choice?
