Our Trashy World

Is this a photo of sad, feeble trophy wife Cindy McCain kissing a "long-haired man who resembles 'a washed-up '80s rock musician'" (ie NOT her husband, John McCain)? According to outsider publication the National Enquirer, YES, IT IS!

Stunned? You shouldn't be. John McCain is a known misogynist who has in the past cruelly berated and humiliated Cindy, this after leaving his first wife when she became disfigured in a car accident. If a husband's going to be cheated on, he often will have been behaving like John McCain. Nevertheless, witnesses to the kiss, which took place in Tempe, a collegiate wasteland within spitting distance of central Phoenix, were dismayed:

Only Nuts Worry About ACORN

Oh yeah, about that ACORN debacle:

A goldfish's lifetime ago, Sen. John McCain was happy to accept the honors and acclamation of … ACORN. Here he is, on Feb. 20, 2006, telling immigration rights activists at a rally in Miami that they "are what makes America special." ACORN co-sponsored the rally, and its volunteers surround McCain…

… ACORN was, to Republican field operatives, a Dirty Word in 2006…and in 2004, but general awareness among politicians and activists of what it does was limited to those who had to deal with its voter registration efforts.

You can't say…ah, but ACORN wasn't suspected of doing anything bad earlier… you can't say that because ACORN has been doing what ACORN is accused of doing for several cycles now.

DID THE WITCHES MAKE PALIN CHEAT ON HER HUSBAND? Oh no! It looks like Kenyan sorcerer Thomas Muthee's big talk about protecting Sarah Palin from evil temptation might be a big sham: "The National Enquirer [which broke news of John Edwards' affair well before other news outlets] claims three sources - including one that signed a sworn affidavit - say Republican presidential nominee Sarah Palin cheated on her husband, Todd Palin, with his former business partner, Brad Hanson."

And Another One

Todd Palin's former business partner has filed an emergency motion to have his divorce records sealed. Our best guess is that this means there is at least some truth to the National Enquirer story that Todd's wife, ultra-moral Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin, cheated on him with this ex-associate. To quote a friend, "If this were a movie, it would be a bad one."

BUT HE SEEMED LIKE SUCH A NICE BOY "In an exclusive interview with In Touch, 28-year-old Kelli Dawson reveals that she and Casey [Aldridge], 19, were romantically involved — and were still sleeping together when Jamie Lynn [Spears], now 17, was six months pregnant with his child. No fleeting hookup, Casey and Kelli’s relationship was both real and lasting — and it grew in intensity, even as Jamie Lynn announced she was pregnant. And, Kelli says, they still meet up on a regular basis. 'I see him all the time, at least once a week,' she shares."

Here Is The Church. Here Is The Steeple.

Know what's been missing from all the postmortems about the mainstream media not covering the John Edwards scandal? Some input from religious types! Other than Bill O'Reilly!

Generally, the devout frown on the cheating-on-your-wife thing, and especially the cheating-on-your-ill-wife thing. And the Catholics, who spend much of their time warning followers about spending eternity in hell, are quick to point out sins. Including those made by the media at large. Hope you've got your holy water in a bottle with a squirt spout top!

Hey, John? Those Supermarket Tabloids Were Right.

John Edwards had a busy weekend. After admitting he cheated on his cancer-ridden wife, the former presidential candidate offered to take a paternity test to prove he did not father mistress Rielle Hunter's five-month-old daughter. Except — surprise! — Rielle announced that she would not participate in the test, therefore leaving this whole thing a mystery. Although it's not so much a mystery when it's obvious Edwards has lots more to hide.

Click through for his smarmy Nightline interview and count the lies.

BENEVOLENT PHILANDERING "Something good may come out of Madonna's liaison with Alex Rodriguez. The Yankee slugger is making a big donation to the icon's charity, Raising Malawi, a source tells us. 'They've asked him for a million dollars, and I hear he's agreed to give at least $500,000,' the source confided."

No Kidding

John Edwards released a statement after admitting to cheating on his cancer-ridden wife back in 2006. You can read the entire transcript here, but most of it says what you'd expect: It was only for a short time and he's not the father of any baby — and he's willing to take the tests to prove it. He goes on:

It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry. In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.

It's a good thing he really had no chance against Barack or Hillary, or else the Democratic party would really be in trouble.

WOW. "In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, [John] Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 42-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her. Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test."

According to the National Enquirer, a wealthy friend of former veep candidate John Edwards has been paying Edwards' mistress $15,000 a month to keep her quiet about the couple's relationship and subsequent lovechild. No "reliable" news source has picked up the story yet, but one should note that the Enquirer isn't always wrong.

Edwards himself has continuously refused to comment on the alleged mistress and child, most recently choosing instead to cower in a bathroom when Enquirer reporters followed him to a hotel at which he was supposedly meeting his lover (not joking).

Foul Balls

Dogpile! Now that media outlets around the country are scrambling for stories about Alex Rodriguez's shattered personal life, no matter how unfounded they might be, strippers on shadowy, dollar-littered stages across this great United States are sashaying forth and bragging that they, too, fucked the married Yankee.

Exotic dancer Candice Houlihan, at left, says she had a loveless, two-night fling with A-Rod in Boston in 2004. And in Detroit, a strip club bartender recently called into a local radio show to claim that A-Rod used to fly one of her colleagues around the country for sex.

Yay, national pastime!

The New York Daily News reports today that Yankee cheater Alex Rodriguez sometimes wears a fake mustache to avoid being recognized while visiting his mistresses. Fortunately, the paper gives no indication as to what type of mustache, thereby allowing us to do our favorite thing in the whole Internet: goof off in MS Paint.

Click through for Mollygood's gallery of A-Rod disguises, none of which really disguise A-Rod.
