Shut Up, Stephen

Oh that liberal elite media and its terrible sense of humor! Everyone needs to get their heads checked, because Stephen Baldwin was simply making a hilarious joke when he said he would leave the country if Barack Obama became president. According to our least favorite Baldwin brother, "The liberal Democrats who didn't get that I was joking need to lighten up." Here's a thought, Steve-O: Perhaps everyone knew you were joking but, deep down, secretly hoped that you were serious and would pack your bags after Nov. 4.

The Jesus Freak (minus the Jesus) also takes issue with — surprise! — gay marriage: "If they legalize gay marriage in all 50 states in my lifetime, I'll get a Billy Ray Cyrus tattoo on my butt to go with the Hannah Montana one." Even more of a reason to help out the gays.

Arlington voter: Is this the garbage bag?

Obama poll watcher: No, that's the Republican poll watcher's literature.

Arlington voter: Oh, so the garbage bag.

Defending The Indefensible

I woke up this morning to find a text from a friend reading, "Texas A&M is making quite a name for itself this election season." I groaned and pulled the covers over my head in an attempt to avoid whatever my alma mater had done to shame itself this time, but eventually headed over to CNN.com to find out the news: The Young Conservatives of Texas on campus set up an Anti-Obama Carnival, encouraging students to throw eggs at a picture of Barack Obama (video after the jump). Well, at least this stunt wasn't as bad as the College Station woman (and possible Aggie) who carved the backwards "B" in her cheek, but it's not helping the stereotype that the town is a "Texas hate community that usually loathes any African American who can't score a touchdown."

So this is the final straw, and I'm taking it upon myself to defend a school and town I love in an attempt to explain the unexplainable: How, despite all logic, these conservative towns aren't all that bad.

Happy Now?

The best part of last night's Saturday Night Live was actually a skit featuring Will Forte as a Halloween sexual predator, but stupid NBC won't release the video (much like the amazing Fancy Pants sketch from the season premiere). Instead, here's a clip of the opener, which parodied the Joe Biden and John Murtha remarks made at recent Obama rallies. It was fairly humorous, but not nearly as awesome as Kristen Wiig's tiny hands from a few weeks back.

On another note, why was Coldplay allowed to perform four times throughout the show? That seems a little unfair, no? If anyone has an explanation, feel free to enlighten us.

OK OK, one more thing and then we'll be done: Congrats to Amy Poehler, who had her baby Saturday night and was unable to make the show. Archie Arnett is the luckiest little boy in the world.

To The Left, To The Left

Another former Bush staffer has publicly endorsed Barack Obama, and this time around the guy isn't black! There goes every stubborn right-winger's excuse as to why a Republican could possibly switch over to the Democratic ticket for this election.

So the traitor, former Bush press secretary Scott McClellen, isn't exactly a huge coup for the Dems: He published a tell-all about his time in the White House earlier this year, and he was highly critical of the war in Iraq, even calling it "a serious strategic blunder." According to McClellen, he's voting for Obama because "he is the candidate most likely to change Washington." We don't really care either way, we're just happy to see an answer to the crazies' flawed logic that Colin Powell only switched sides because he's black.

This Freakin' Guy

Here we go again! Tucker Carlson has yet another wrong opinion about something! We thought this shit was over after Jon Stewart made a fool out of him and his bow tie and got his show canceled. And if not then, then definitely after he made a fool out of himself on a dancing show and viewers canceled him. But no. Tucker somehow finagled hisself a real-live column over at The Daily Beast, and he's using it just as poorly as he's used every other opportunity in his privileged life.

Sherri vs. Elisabeth

Sherri Shepherd, bless her heart, reared her slightly empty head today on The View to stand up to resident crazy Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The ladies' Friday show was pretaped, so today they threw in extra chirping about Thursday night's debate. Can you guess who Elisabeth thought did the best job? She tried to convince the other women, which is when Sherri "I haven't thought about whether the earth is flat or round" Shepherd got riled up and spewed some semi-coherent thoughts for the first time in her life. We never thought we'd say this, but: Good for you, Sherri!

The transcript of the smackdown is after the jump. Things got much more heated later in Hot Topics when the discussion turned to Obama's "terrorist ties," but asking someone to transcribe that mess is like asking someone to walk on water. It ain't happening. Hopefully there will be video for you later in the day.

Update: Video here.

COLOR US SHOCKED "A longtime staff member on The View chatfest says, 'It's not as bad as during the Rosie [O'Donnell] era,' but the presidential election has GOP-er Elisabeth Hasselbeck 'really upset' with her liberal co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. I understand View creator Barbara Walters has called a 'cooling off' meeting to keep a lid on things."

FOR THE OTHER SIDE "Sen. John McCain's record of working with Democrats easily outstrips Sen. Barack Obama's efforts with Republicans, according to an analysis by The Washington Times of their legislative records. Whether looking at bills they have led on or bills they have signed onto, Mr. McCain has reached across the aisle far more frequently and with more members than Mr. Obama since the latter came to the Senate in 2005.
