Leave Mindy Alone

drphilmccready.jpg

What the hell is wrong with Dr. Phil? First he attempted to cash in on Britney Spears' epic mental breakdown and now he's moved on to poor Mindy McCready.

The country singer is rumored to be in a Texas rehab center that specializes in drug addiction and mental health issues — that's a step in the right direction. What's not right is Dr. Phil's involvement in the entire process, including a visit to the rehab center. After Mindy's spent her 30 days in the clinic she'll tape an appearance on The Dr. Phil Show to explain how she doesn't think she has a problem. Which … makes entirely no sense.

Oprah, we blame you.

End Of Days

tyraemmy1

Yes, Tyra Banks was the recipient of an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show (Informative). To help that little nugget go down, consider this: She was up against Dr. Phil and A Place of Our Own. So, really, it's hard not to win the Emmy in that category. But let's be honest: Anyone who tears a loose thread off a fake Chinatown handbag to floss her teeth and guzzles a bottle of olive oil in front of a live audience is deserving of all the praise in the world. After the jump, one of the groundbreaking moments in daytime television history that won that gold statue for Ty Ty. (And to watch her acceptance speech, click here.)

It's about time! Megalomaniacal therapist Dr Phil could soon be losing his popular television show after he paid $30,000 to bail out one of the teen girls arrested for the brutal beating of a classmate in Florida. According to a statement issued by the Dr Phil show, it was in violation of its own rules when it paid the the girl's bail and will no longer proceed with the program it was doing on her, but MSNBC sources believe this could be the end for the straight-shootin' Texan who rarely offers more than common sense.

Rumors about Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo productions cutting ties with Dr. Phil have been circulating for months, but even if Harpo did pull out, it’s still CBS TV Distribution that does the day-to-day production of the show.

Credibility concerns seem to be front and center at the moment. “People don’t trust him like they used to,” another source revealed.

People used to trust him?

Oprah's done it again: Dr. Oz, who frequents the Oprah Winfrey Show and is known to housewives across the country as "America's Doctor," is developing his own talk show. Let's hope he's not the new Dr. Phil.

BAD MEDICINE "Did Dr. Phil practice psychology without a license? That's the basis of a new complaint filed against the television personality, who has already faced an onslaught of criticism since visiting Britney Spears at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center…McGraw is also accused of violating the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. The complaint alleges Dr. Phil practiced clinical psychology without a license and further violated doctor-patient privilege by discussing the pop star's case with the media."

SECOND OPINION SOUGHT "Dr. Phil McGraw is paying the price of his ill-considered 'intervention' with Britney Spears. His show is trying to book high-profile guests to tape its 1,000th episode, conceived as a 'celebrity tribute' to the mouthy quack. 'Nobody good wants to go near it,' says a source familiar with the booking process..since the Britney debacle, A-listers are reluctant…"

Bland Warfare

A mousy spokeswoman for the embroiled Spears family appeared on The Today Show this morning to discuss the family's bitter battle with Texas quack Dr Phil.

Rookie anchor Meredith Viera lobbed softballs like this: "What is wrong with Dr Phil's statement [that Britney Spears needs medical attention]?" To which the spokeswoman opined, "What's wrong with Dr Phil's statement is that he made a statement." Burn! Using a less cutesy turn of phrase, the woman added that, by speaking to the press about Britney's condition, Phil was "violating a family trust." And Lord knows the Spears' been violated enough!

Our suggestion to the Spears clan: Get that psychopath Chris Crocker on the case. Dr Phil will have bleach in his eyes before you can scream, "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!!!!!!!"

Vampires Must Be Invited In

As he is already widely known to be a pushy madman who will stick his tremendous head into just about anyone's business, Dr Phil wisely sat down with Entertainment Tonight to let them and their audience know that, this time, with this crazy pop star, he wasn't being "as nosy as a Texas Coonhound in a butcher shop."

The way he tells it, the Spears family reached out to him. But belying his story, the Spears' are distancing themselves from the good doctor in every way possible (which is perhaps the first smart decision they've ever made as a family).

And with that, we do believe it's a feud, y'all! Hatfield vs McCoy has nothing on Spears vs McGraw.

THAT'S QUACKTASTIC! "People on the 7th floor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center say [Dr Phil] arrived about 7:30 AM Saturday. We're told Britney [Spears] did not invite him in; she didn't even know he was coming. Sources say it was Brit's parents who told Dr. Phil to go to the hospital. When he walked into her room, we're told, a blindsided Britney walked out…Sources say Phil tried speaking with Spears for about 15 minutes…but she wanted none of it."

SECOND OPINION NEEDED The quacky Dr Phil and his even less-credentialed wife, Robin, believe Lynne Spears and her disaster-prone daughters are going to be just fine, despite all evidence pointing to the contrary. From where does their hope stem?. Says Robin: "I talked to Lynne yesterday and she said they're turning to prayer, asked that I pray for them. That's how they're going to get through it."
