Sarah, Not So Much

Rosie O'Donnell, keeper of Mollygood's trolls, pranced over to The Today Show to discuss with Meredith Viera her upcoming (and ill-advised) variety show that is scheduled to torment your television sets this week. Naturally, the two former View moderators discussed Rosie's latest feud with Barbara Walters, which is likely not going to end anytime soon seeing as how Ro just can't keep her mouth shut. Time must have run short, because Meredith forgot to ask about the infamous Mollygood Celebrity Encounter that everyone's talking about (441 comments and counting, really?). Better luck next time.

Here Come The Trolls!

Once again, there's trouble on The View. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with Elisabeth Hasselbeck and America's desire to ship her over to FOX News — no, this time around, the source is none other than Mollygood's sweetheart, Rosie O'Donnell. You see, Rosie told some reporters that all is not rainbows and sunshine over at the morning television henhouse: "I'm not saying they loathe each other, but the fact of the matter is there was not a lot of camaraderie off camera." Barbara Walters, of course, had something to say about that and took a moment from humiliating Elisabeth during Hot Topics to defend their lovefest (around the 2:45 mark).

Donald Trump, care to comment?

Anyone? ... Anyone?

We rarely hear from Whoopi Goldberg anymore without the annoying Elisabeth Hasselbeck crowing in the background, so it's nice to see The View's mediator just hanging out by herself, uninterrupted and chatting about nothing of substance except for a few of her tattoos. (Video here.)

Terrorist Fist Bump Included

Within minutes of hearing the news that Barack Obama would be the next President of the United States, my mind went to a dark place: "Take that, Elisabeth Hasselbeck!" I couldn't wait to turn on The View this morning and watch the show's resident crazy cry in shame and weep for the state of our nation. Unfortunately, she threw us for a loop and acted like a classy, intelligent human being. Who knew?

Bonus footage includes Sherri Shepherd crying tears of joy in response to last night's election results. It's quite sweet, actually.

Full video after the jump.

But Can We Talk About Rev. Wright Some More?

Today The View celebrated what is likely one of the last few days the ladies will offer anything interesting for our viewing pleasure, due to the light at the end of the political tunnel. Nobody wants to hear these hens sit around and squawk about menopause — we tune in every morning to see Elisabeth have a nervous breakdown in a fit of ignorant rage.

Over the last couple of weeks, Whoopi has been determined to cut to commercial the second Lissy starts going on a rampage, much to the disappointment of everyone desperate enough to be watching this show. But today she flat gave up after attempting to explain herself to Elisabeth for the hundredth time to no avail.

Please, Xenu, if you're out there, get Obama elected so we don't have to see this smug idiot's face tomorrow morning crowing about how the "good guys" won.

There's Just Something About Her

Elisabeth Hasselbeck gets more death threats than anyone else on "The View," Whoopi Goldberg revealed Monday night at Cooper Union. Whoopi - part of a panel discussion on Art and Educational Justice … said of her conservative co-host: "Politically we could not be more opposite, but I respect her tremendously. Truth is, we could not have a dialogue without Elizabeth. It's not that we have to agree, the important thing is that we have the conversation."

Elisabeth Hasselbeck was invited to introduce Sarah Palin at Florida rallies over the weekend, presumably because the McCain camp knows Lissy is the best attack dog available who still believes the nonsense the right wing has been spewing. This time around she defended Palin's wardrobe, saying it doesn't matter how much money she spends as long as she wears that tiny flag pin, the sign of a good president or vice president. This was an obvious dig at Barack Obama, who is clearly a terrorist who wants to blow up America because he chose not to wear the flag pin. Genius, this lady. The most laughable aspect of this is Elisabeth's hypocrisy, claiming that Democrats refuse to focus on the REAL ISSUES when day after day she sits on The View and spews that Bill Ayers/terrorist agenda.

Luckily, not everyone is buying this foolishness: Alaska's top newspaper, the Anchorage Daily News, has officially endorsed Obama, calling the state's governor "too risky": "Gov. Palin's nomination clearly alters the landscape for Alaskans as we survey this race for the presidency — but it does not overwhelm all other judgment. The election, after all is said and done, is not about Sarah Palin, and our sober view is that her running mate, Sen. John McCain, is the wrong choice for president at this critical time for our nation." Elisabeth, care to offer a rebuttal?

With 100% More Kool-Aid!

The View was awesome yet again this morning, thanks partly to Elisabeth waking up on the wrong side of the bed and also because of Whoopi's absence. Poor Barbara Walters had to mediate between Joy and Elisabeth, which was ineffective and led to one of the more intense shouting matches we've seen as of late.

The tension begins around the 4:00 mark, where Joy attempts to explain why Sarah Palin's likability has plummeted, which — of course! — Elisabeth takes personally and uses as an excuse to announce her respect for George W. Bush. Yeah, seriously. She believes W is the reason America has stayed safe from terrorism for the past seven years, but implies that the country will be blown to smithereens under an Obama presidency. Even Barbara takes issue with this, which leads to an even more glorious moment of Elisabeth getting snippy with her boss.

The segment ends — after much screeching — with Elisabeth offering Joy more "Obama kool-aid," because she's that mature. The only person who escaped this argument unscathed? Sherri Shepherd. What a strange, strange world this has become.

It's not as if this hasn't been made clear in the past, but Star Jones reiterates in a new Essence interview that there is no love lost between her and her former co-hosts on The View. At least she left before Elisabeth Hasselbeck fell in love with Sarah Palin and Bill Ayers.

Jones also talked about her divorce from Al Reynolds, whom she admits she no longer loves.

'I'm Not Sure They Were Applauding You'

You guys? I have a problem. I wake up every morning watching the clock and waiting for it to strike 11 so I can experience the latest explosion on The View. Each episode over the past week has been like a ticking time bomb, with the ladies' hatred for Elisabeth Hasselbeck growing stronger. Today was another argument over Barack Obama's ties to "American terrorist" Bill Ayers — and, once again, Sherri Shepherd stepped in and gave Elisabeth a huge smackdown (around the 2:15 mark), causing EH to get extremely defensive and snippy. Joy Behar, who was back in her seat after having yesterday off, barely got a word in, but that's OK. The damage has been done. Elisabeth will surely be running to FOX News any day now.

Except It Totally Is

Here's the video from today's episode of The View that we were talking about earlier. Elisabeth Hasselbeck got in on the political discussion with some new talking points from her friends at FOX News, all but calling Barack Obama a terrorist. This angered the ladies (minus Joy Behar, who was disappointingly absent) — even prompting Whoopi to nearly curse on the air. Instead, Sherri and Barbara attempted to reason with her while controlling their rage, which is entertaining in itself after last week's fiasco.

At this point, it's blatantly obvious that everyone hates Elisabeth and wants her gone. The sooner the better.

Sherri vs. Elisabeth

Sherri Shepherd, bless her heart, reared her slightly empty head today on The View to stand up to resident crazy Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The ladies' Friday show was pretaped, so today they threw in extra chirping about Thursday night's debate. Can you guess who Elisabeth thought did the best job? She tried to convince the other women, which is when Sherri "I haven't thought about whether the earth is flat or round" Shepherd got riled up and spewed some semi-coherent thoughts for the first time in her life. We never thought we'd say this, but: Good for you, Sherri!

The transcript of the smackdown is after the jump. Things got much more heated later in Hot Topics when the discussion turned to Obama's "terrorist ties," but asking someone to transcribe that mess is like asking someone to walk on water. It ain't happening. Hopefully there will be video for you later in the day.

Update: Video here.

Boring

Here's the thing about The View that really annoys me (and no, it's not the ladies' constant competition to see who can squawk the loudest): Just when the show is getting good, the producers put the kibosh on it. After yesterday's fight heard 'round the Internet, the ladies came back from commercial break with a completely different topic. Look, Whoopi, we don't care how much you hate going to the dentist — we want to hear more of Elisabeth's inane tirades.

So it should come as no surprise that today's Hot Topics never once mentioned the controversy from the day before, despite the fact that it's being talked about just as much as any other big news scandal. Instead, Barbara was absent and Elisabeth tried her darnedest to be on good behavior — even coming close to admitting that Sarah Palin is not always right (re: her Supreme Court blunder). Looks like someone's struggling to keep her job. How disappointing.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK V. BARBARA WALTERS We've updated this morning's insta-notorious The View post with video of these two arguing over Sarah Palin. Watch it here.

Yes!

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why I watch The View morning after morning in hopes of witnessing something amazing. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the moron who gives Republicans everywhere a bad name, had a minor meltdown during the show's first segment today. She was so beyond help that not even Barbara Walters came to her rescue. The topic, of course, was the idiocy of Sarah Palin, which turned into another session of Elisabeth spouting off nonsensical remarks to defend her beloved McCain/Palin ticket. After Barbara correctly likened Palin's preparation for the debate to a high school student cramming for an exam, Elisabeth became extremely angry, which is when this happened (inciting a round of boos from the audience):

BW: We love you on the program. You are the counterpoint. But every single day you never ever say, 'Maybe there's another point.' So here's your chance. … Tell us now why you think that Sarah Palin would make a very good president.

EH: Well, since I've been studying for this pop quiz forever, I — tell me why Barack Obama is qualified. I mean, give me three tangible things he has done.

Glorious. Anyone who genuinely thinks this woman has a single intelligent thing to say that hasn't been programmed into her head via FOX News needs to go see a doctor, cause something's off.

Update: You must watch this clip, below.

COLOR US SHOCKED "A longtime staff member on The View chatfest says, 'It's not as bad as during the Rosie [O'Donnell] era,' but the presidential election has GOP-er Elisabeth Hasselbeck 'really upset' with her liberal co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. I understand View creator Barbara Walters has called a 'cooling off' meeting to keep a lid on things."

Wishful Thinking

We have good news and we have bad news. First we'll start with the good: Shrewish conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck is considering leaving her chair at The View round table. The bad news: She's still going to be gracing our television sets. Says a source:

Elisabeth is just as tired of the ladies at The View as they are of her! She feels she constantly has to defend herself. Besides that, when she gets passionate about her opinions, the others make her look like she’s hysterical. But when she doesn’t talk enough, she’s accused of 'pouting.'

Naturally, the fair and balanced FOX News is offering her a position as an anchor for one of the network's shows. At least she will be around the rest of the crazies.

Update: Yes, Cord called it last week.

Somewhere, Elisabeth Hasselbeck Is Crying

Poor Cindy McCain. She's having a tough go at this political race, all thanks to the likes of Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. At a Michigan fundraiser on Saturday night, Cindy complained to a room of fellow Republicans about her horrific experience on a daytime talk show:

In spite of what you see … in the newspapers, and on shows like The View — I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean — in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing. They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead.

It truly is a sad state of affairs when the man running for president has the toughest time answering questions from a group of catty women who talk over each other while discussing men and menopause. (You can watch the ladies "gang up" on Cindy and John here.)
