Finally! After days of waiting for more information about A Double Shot at Love with the Ikki Twins, a preview — and all of its accompanying STDs — has hit YouTube. And good news: It's every bit the famewhore cesspool we imagined.
Just another step forward for the GLBT community.
Yesterday on The View, the Reverend Mike Huckabee, political loser and sanctimonious miscreant, said something totally astounding: that blacks are more deserving of civil rights than gays because they've endured more violence. Seriously. He said that.
Asked by co-host Joy Behar why it would be bad to do away with the traditional "institution" of marriage, whereas it was fine for blacks to want to do away with the traditional "institution" of segregation, Huckabee responded: "But here is the difference. Bull Connor was hosing people down in the streets of Alabama. John Lewis got his skull cracked on the Selma bridge." Nice talk, REVEREND!
Here's why Mike Huckabee is a disgusting, ignorant hatemonger…

Cinemark Theaters, the company hemorrhaging money since the great candy recession rocked America, is apparently headed up by a crotchety old Sour Patch Man who hates gay people. Dig it: "Alan Stock, the head of the large movie chain Cinemark, which also goes by the names Century Theatre, CineArts and Tinseltown, gave $9,999 to the 'Yes on 8' campaign." Consider this your formal call to boycott Cinemark and its demonic cat goblin mascot, which is gay (JUST LOOK AT THAT FORM-FITTING TUX!!!!).

MORMON TEMPLES UNDER ATTACK AFTER PROP 8 PASSAGE • "Letters containing a suspicious white powder were sent Thursday to Mormon temples in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City that were the sites of protests against the church's support of California's gay marriage ban. The temple in the Westwood area of Los Angeles was evacuated before a hazardous materials crew determined the envelope's contents were not toxic, said FBI spokesman Jason Pack. The temple in downtown Salt Lake City, where the church is based, received a similar envelope containing a white powder that spilled onto a clerk's hand. … Protests in recent days have targeted the Mormon church, which encouraged its members to fight the recently passed amendment banning gay marriage in California." HAS AIDS BEEN CURED? • "An American man who suffered from AIDS appears to have been cured of the disease 20 months after receiving a targeted bone marrow transplant normally used to fight leukemia, his doctors said. While researchers - and the doctors themselves - caution that the case might be no more than a fluke, others say it may inspire a greater interest in gene therapy to fight the disease that claims 2 million lives each year. The virus has infected 33 million people worldwide." CONTINUED »
STAN LEE CREATING GAY SUPERHERO SHOW • Look out, California Mormons: "Showtime is developing an hourlong project from comicbook icon Stan Lee that tracks the life of a gay superhero. … Story, which focuses on an up-and-coming superhero who struggles to hide his secret identities, is based on the book 'Hero' by Perry Moore."

The latest wrinkle in the Prop. 8 whodunit blame game comes from FiveThirtyEight's adorkable Nate Silver, who breaks down the demographics on the California vote. "Certainly, the No on 8 folks might have done a better job of outreach to California's black and Latino communities. But the notion that Prop 8 passed because of the Obama turnout surge is silly", he claims. Instead, he says the numbers place the blame at the feet of older voters across all demographics:
The good news for supporters of marriage equity is that — and there's no polite way to put this — the older voters aren't going to be around for all that much longer, and they'll gradually be cycled out and replaced by younger voters who grew up in a more tolerant era. Everyone knew going in that Prop 8 was going to be a photo finish — California might be just progressive enough and 2008 might be just soon enough for the voters to affirm marriage equity. Or, it might fall just short, which is what happened. But two or four or six or eight years from now, it will get across the finish line.

Here's your handy-dandy visual representation of LA's homophobia.
As you can see, South Central is not too keen on the gays, whereas WeHo and Santa Monica are BFFs with them. The Valley is apparently teeming with bigots, so it's a good thing nobody cares about it.
That red dot is Silver Lake, the obnoxious hamlet where your editor used to lay his head. Silver Lake is very, very, very gay and in what's basically East Hollywood, just a couple miles away from another big "yes" voting area—East LA.
Conclusion: Another way to look at this map is as a guide to show you where in Los Angeles ethnic minorities and old people live. Sad but true.

PROP 8 TAINTS OBAMA VICTORY FOR DEGENERES "Ellen DeGeneres says she is 'saddened beyond belief' by the passage of a constitutional amendment in California banning gay marriage. The talk show host said in a statement Wednesday to The Associated Press that she, 'like millions of Americans, felt like we had taken a giant step toward equality' by electing Barack Obama as president. DeGeneres says that with the passage of California’s Proposition 8, 'we took a giant step away.'"
PROP 8 IN TROUBLE "A measure to once again ban gay marriage in California led Tuesday, throwing into doubt the unions of an estimated 18,000 same-sex couples who wed during the last 4 1/2 months. As the measure, the most divisive and emotionally fraught on the state ballot this year, took a lead in early returns, supporters gathered at a hotel ballroom in Sacramento and cheered."
The polls are almost closed, but the polling place stories continue.
This one comes to us from stopthemadness, who voted in West Hollywood. It wouldn't be an '08 Election Day without the gays!

BARON COHEN TOO FAMOUS FOR CHARACTERS' GOOD "Sacha Baron Cohen went undercover as his alter ego Bruno on Sunday by crashing a rally in support of a ballot measure that would ban gay marriage in California. … Cohen, in disguise in a blond wig and preppy outfit, marched with demonstrators who support Proposition 8 while being trailed by cameras in a rally across from City Hall. When photographers and reporters realized who he was and tried to approach the star, members of his film crew tried to shield him, and he was eventually whisked away in a van."
Transgendered boy queen Chris Crocker, who's looking more and more like the haunting spectre of a Top Model reject, went against his promise to quit YouTube and on Friday uploaded to the video sharing site an endorsement for That One, Barack Obama.
The whole thing is more or less a grating disaster, but it is nice to see a Democratic voter fighting idiotic faux patriotism with idiotic faux patriotism: "Anyone that's not voting for Barack Obama does not care about our country and is not American."

PALIN EFFIGY REMOVED IN WEHO "An effigy of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been taken down from a West Hollywood home, after the homeowner discussed the situation with the city's mayor. The mannequin hanging by a noose was part of a larger Halloween display that included an effigy of John McCain coming out of the chimney surrounded by fake flames. The display has drawn national attention and a visit from the Secret Service, which decided there was no threat. Earlier in the afternoon, neighbors covered up the Palin mannequin with sheets, in what was described as a friendly protest."

So, a gay couple in West Hollywood is getting famous for hanging an effigy of Sarah Palin from their roof!
Some people think it's hilarious and take pictures, others think it's in poor taste and say things like, "What if someone hung a Barack Obama mannequin from a noose?" To which we reply: Do you know anything about history? And also SOMEONE HAS!
We think it's pretty offsides. Even if Palin is a race-baiting, witch hunting arctic kook, it's probably best to avoid depicting anyone as the victim of a lynch mob. What's your take?
ELIZABETH TAYLOR STILL PARTYING "Elizabeth Taylor, 76, doesn't get out much these days. But when she does leave home, she goes to the Abbey, West Hollywood's top gay bar. The wheelchair-bound screen legend … favors tequila shots and apple martinis …"

Of all the rumors in Hollywood, Will Smith's love of men remains one of the most pervasive.
We've been hearing for years that the super star and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, both go for the same-sex. It came as no surprise, then, to hear that Smith, who's been palling around with Tom Cruise and his anti-gay Scientologists, has spent some time with male prostitutes in the past. From the ever-vigilant Ian Halperin:
According to a notorious Hollywood Madame, Smith was a client of hers for years before she packed up shop and moved her operation to Manhattan earlier this year.
