The 63rd Degree

The seven-page questionnaire being sent to those seeking high-ranking positions in the Obama administration is being called "considerably more detailed than we had to fill out" by a former Clinton aide and "invasive" by other Washington insiders.

Among the 63 questions – some of which have multiple parts – are queries about gun ownership (of you and your family), Internet aliases, embarrassing experiences at work and embarrassing family members (above).

Thinking of applying? Keep this in mind: your drunk, gun-owning cousin who can't get his shit together is going to be loyal to you far longer than the US government.

Obama's Entourage

It's official. Congressman Rahm Emanuel has accepted President-elect Barack Obama's offer to be his chief of staff.

Rahm, famous for standing atop his desk and shouting, "The Republicans can go fuck themselves!" during an interview in 2006, isn't the only powerful rager in the family. His brother, Hollywood agent Ari Emanuel, was the inspiration for the foul-mouthed, abrasive Ari Gold, Jeremy Piven's character on Entourage.

150,000 MORE AMERICANS CANNED When they're right, they're right, doggonnit! Look how well the Bush tax cuts Sarah Palin and John McCain want to make permanent are working out for the American people: "U.S. employers cut payrolls at the steepest rate in 5-1/2 years in September, slashing an unexpectedly large 159,000 jobs as employment contracted for a ninth straight month, suggesting the economy may be in recession." STARVING ACTORS TO STARVE A LITTLE LESS "Moderate-income performers will likely benefit from a tax relief bill introduced in the Senate on Thursday. Bill will raise the current limit on adjusted gross income to allow deductions for work-related expenses. Currently, the U.S. tax code allows single performers to deduct business expenses only if they have an adjusted gross income below $16,000. The bill would raise that cap to $30,000."

Despite having a career trajectory that resembles the President's approval rating, Mischa Barton is still enough of a prima donna to have skipped all her press obligations for her new movie, You and I, at the Cannes Film Festival. And now she's gone missing in London, the film's next press stop. Says You and I director Roland Joffé: "She hasn't pulled out of interviews, she's pulled out of everything . . . Her room is here, she is here, but trying to get the two together has just been impossible. We just don't know where Mischa is."

After watching the film's trailer, above, we can't say we blame the poor girl. That Russian accent is ROUGH.

Why are black bodyguards so prevalent both stateside and in Europe, on the arms of white and black celebrities alike? Does having this many large dark men filling such an occupation perpetuate the stereotype that blacks are ogreish and brutal? Is it this stereotype that created the profusion of black bodyguards in the first place? What gives?
