When I received my invitation to Gotham magazine's issue release party in honor of cover girl (and Gossip Girl) Leighton Meester, I squealed a bit: I've been addicted to the show since the first episode, and I simply adore Leighton's character, Blair Waldorf. But there's always been something about Meester that seems a bit off, and the party — held at NYC's Marquee — didn't do much to change my perception of her.

Very raggy rag Star magazine has done some digging and discovered that Leighton Meester, funny surname owner and Gossip Girl beeotch, was born in a halfway home while her mother was incarcerated for drug charges. Not sure why Star felt it necessary to bring this information to light, but now that it has, how much more respect do you have for this Leighton Meester lady, who maybe you once considered a throwaway, or didn't consider at all? We still can't produce a nugget of care for Gossip Girl, but good for her.

When Miley Cyrus was chosen to host the Teen Choice Awards, which was filmed last night and will air tonight, we're unsure whether or not the producers expected her to hog the spotlight as much as she obviously did. Judging from the pictures, she treated the entire awards show like one of her infamous YouTube videos, including her BFF Mandy in most of her bits and ruining a perfectly good LL Cool J performance.

In other news, Dwight graced the show with his presence, Mariah continued to use a glitter microphone, Arcuhleta's dad still won't go away — and when did Chace Crawford become so good-looking?

Tyra Banks and some of her top models attempted to show off how to smile with your eyes at the CW Network 2008 Upfronts last night in NYC. It's safe to say Tyra is still the only one who has mastered that concept, but we applaud Anya (second from right) for making a solid attempt. The rest seem to have just given up hope.

What's up with the inappropriate Gossip Girl promotion? Between the steamy OMFG sex scene ads and this stripped-down cover of the latest issue of New York magazine, we have a hard time believing any parents will be happy letting their school-age children watch the show tonight when it comes back from hiatus.

It's "candid" photographs like the one above that lead us to believe these girls aren't just acting like melodramatic, overdressed rich kids.

Which rival young actresses on the same hit show are forced to pose together at PR events, even though they hate each other? One resents the other for having knocked her off her 'star of the show' pedestal.

We've been hearing rumors of unrest on the Gossip Girl set, but we can't decide which girl would be mad at the other for stealing her thunder. It's a good thing the strike is over, because we almost forgot about both of them altogether.

Tuesday night, when asked if they'd like to share any Hollywood gossip they've become privy to since joining the cast of Gossip Girl, one young actor noted: "I'd like to punch Zac Efron in the face." Interesting, because that's the exact same way I feel about the cast of Gossip Girl.
