A couple months back, Jason Bateman appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and not-so-subtly plugged the idea for a movie version of his sort of recently canceled show, Arrested Development. Like 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, and all good things on TV right now, AD was a genius program that still managed to tank in the ratings despite a rabid cult following.

But while the rumor mill quickly churned all over the blogosphere (much of it Olbermann's fault, he's on top of the story like no other), Michael Cera broke everyone's heart by insinuating that he's done with playing George Michael, despite the fact that Cera owes his entire stardom to the awkwardness of that character. And even weirder, he keeps saying he knows nothing about any scripts in development, despite Jason Bateman's vocal promotions?

Whatever dude. We think that Cera made a huge mistake, and apparently so does the Internet Movie Database:

IS CERA THE NEW CUSACK? "Who doesn't love Michael Cera? … True, his part in Nick and Nora, playing the sensitive geek who tries to get his unrequited love, is well-worn territory for the actor, we actually think it's a big next step. After all, for the first time in his career Mr. Cera is being asked to carry the financial success of a film on his name alone. And while we agree in principle with his former Arrested Development dad Jason Bateman, who says that 'at some point the audience might want something different,' we're certainly not at that point yet. The world needs another John Cusack; another go-to actor for romantic comedies about good hearted guys who shall inherit the earth."

The Good Guys

I don’t really want to be famous, and I’m kind of scared that might be happening … I might really have to stop and think before I make decisions now, and see how they’re going to affect my life, and see if it’s what I want to be doing with my life. I guess I need to make sure that it’s worth all that comes with it.

George Michael Ruins Everything

Sad news for Arrested Development fans: Michael Cera, also known as George Michael Bluth, just put the kibosh on any plans for the series to be made into a movie:

What he won't be doing any time soon is a movie version of a certain quirky TV show. He hasn't heard of any plans for an Arrested Development film.

'I don't think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway,' Cera says. 'And I don't really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD.'

Look, Michael, just because you starred in a couple of hit movies doesn't mean you have the right to interfere with our hopes and dreams of seeing the Bluths on the big screen. It's not fair.

Or, the What MTV Tells You to Like Awards

teenchoicelead

The 2007 Teen Choice Awards aired last evening on Fox, and for some odd reason, Larry Birkhead was invited. (Choice Litigious Ex-Lover of a Late Junkie?) As usual, this annual recognition of mediocrity stood as a rock solid reminder of why teenagers aren't allowed to make very important decisions.

Winners and photos after the jump.
