MOORE TAKES REVOLUTIONARY STEP IN FILM DISTRIBUTION "Michael Moore is bringing his latest film, 'Slacker Uprising,' to the masses via free online distribution. The film, which played last year’s Toronto Film Festival under the title 'Captain Mike Across America,' follows Moore’s 62-city tour during the 2004 election to rally young voters. … 'This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans,' Moore said. 'The only return any of us are hoping for is the largest turnout of young voters ever at the polls in November. I think 'Slacker Uprising' will inspire million to get off the couch and give voting a chance.' The $2 million doc will be promoted at the website slackeruprising.com but Moore said neither he nor [his production company] will profit from the release. … The 97-minute long 'Slacker Uprising' will be the first major film to be released in such a way."

In an e-mail sent to the thousands of angry Democrats on his listserv, left-wing documentarian – some would say propagandist – Michael Moore makes a plea for the leader of Barack Obama's vice-presidential search committee, Caroline Kennedy, to nominate herself for the lofty position. It's highly unlikely that the only surviving child of John F Kennedy will even consider doing such a thing – something tells us the black/woman/Ivy League/American royalty ticket wouldn't play well in certain areas of the country – thus rendering the lengthy message mostly useless; but Mike really, really, really likes to hear himself talk, and so he did.

The completed film could feasibly premiere at next year’s Festival, if it isn’t released earlier."

GOOD MOVIES "It has happened slowly and with little fanfare, but a look through the weekly listings for new film releases reveals that a big change has taken place in Hollywood. … The popularity of non-fiction films has exploded, thanks to filmmakers such as Michael Moore and the Oscar success of An Inconvenient Truth, the call to action on global warming from Al Gore. An influx of money from wealthy philanthropic patrons has boosted the number of documentaries being produced to the extent that there are now more in the pipeline than ever before for release in cinemas and on pay-television channels. The act of investing money in movies with powerful social messages has even spawned a new term: 'filmanthropy'."

In a letter that twice includes the word "Hitler," angry filmmaker Michael Moore has publicly given his official endorsement to a Democratic presidential candidate. Hint: The documentarian's choice is not Hillary Clinton, whom he describes as "a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity."

sicko

So there's this movie out that seems to be making a little noise in the media. If you've not seen it yet, for what will certainly be a limited time only, someone's letting you watch it for free. Save your money for your chemo. From the looks of this, you're probably gonna need it.

Michael Moore may be a liar and it's probably not reasonable to believe everything he says, but when he's right, he's right. And it sure is a damn fine pleasure to see him upbraid Wolf Blitzer, who cowers like a sheep in wolf's clothing when asked to explain his network's attack on Moore's new documentary, Sicko.
