HISTORIAN: BEATLES, STONES WERE FAT CATS, NOT REVOLUTIONARIES "Pop culture icons John Lennon and Mick Jagger were clever capitalists who cashed in on the mood of the 1960s, not spokesmen for a generation seeking revolution, a British academic said Thursday. Cambridge University historian David Fowler said that so-called 'Swinging London' was in fact beyond most normal people, 'less a golden age for the nation's young than a celebration of wealth by its social elite. Groups like The Beatles were basically capitalists interested in enriching themselves through the music industry. They did about as much to represent the interests of the nation's young people as The Spice Girls did in the 1990s.'"

Mick Jagger, Steve Bing and Warren Beatty cut loose and stayed out late last night at Hollywood "hot spot" Hyde. Although the trio began the night in a rather civil manner, sources say that things got out of hand when Beatty had the bartender crush his back medication into his Mojitos. The trio were asked to leave after accosting the entire cast of Laguna Beach, demanding that they "Listen up and learn a thing or two!"*

* After being contacted by Steve Bing's attorneys about this post, I wanted to make clear that the part about Warren Beatty mixing his meds with his mojitos and the twosome beating up the cast of Laguna Beach was, uh, entirely made up. Regular MollyGood readers knew that. Not Steve's attorneys. Cause you guys are cool cats. Not Steve's attorneys.

• If celebs were on American Idol (it would probably suck worse). [INO]

• Women can be funny, too. But still mostly moody and difficult to speak with when sad. [Slate]

• Fashion's more dramatic than Hollywood, and it has 100 per cent less Dakota Fanning rapes (if you don't count those Marc Jacobs ads, which are just exploitation). [NYT]
