Nas spoke to MTV about the Jesse Jackson gonads controversy, and, in typical Nas fashion, made a few good points and then completely lost me. He claims that the reason we don’t need Jesse Jackson anymore is because we have Nas, Barack Obama, David Banner and Young Jeezy. Someone please explain.

I think Jesse Jackson, he’s the biggest player hater. His time is up. All you old n—as, time is up. We heard your voice, we saw your marching, we heard your sermons. We don’t wanna hear that sh– no more. It’s a new day. It’s a new voice. I’m here now. We don’t need Jesse; I’m here. I got this. We got Barack, we got David Banners and Young Jeezys. We’re the voice now. It’s no more Jesse. Sorry. Goodbye. You ain’t helping nobody in the ‘hood. That’s the bottom line. Goodbye, Jesse. Bye!

Whole Dudes

New research calls into question a study suggesting circumcision halves a man's chances of contracting HIV, a claim detailed at length in 2006 in this former "Most E-Mailed" New York Times article. According to one expert, the latest data shows the 2006 findings to be "spurious and unsupported" and more related to behavior than physicality. Whoops.

Sorry you got such a bad rap, hooded friends. To make you feel more included, after the jump, we've made a list of all your ALLEGEDLY uncircumcised brethren in Hollywood.

Woman Is the Nigger of the World

yokojohn

Professional rapper Nas says he's thankful Yoko Ono broke up The Beatles, thereby allowing his hero John Lennon to thrive as a solo artist. According to Nas, without Yoko giving him the strength to drop his wack crew, Lennon might never have gone on to pen canonical works like "Imagine" and "Give Peace a Chance."

As usual, Nasty Nas is right. Eff The Beatles and the way everyone loves them because their parents have told them to. John Lennon carried that band and Paul McCartney is an old relic who's lost his luster. All hail the egomaniacal Yoko!

After the jump, John and Yoko's notorious "n-word" tune, a song the MC behind Nigger can no doubt appreciate.

Talkin' Shirt

We really, really, really do believe Nas to be a bit of a genius, we just wish he could better vocalize his intentions behind calling his upcoming album Nigger.

If you're a fan of Nas and understand what he's trying to say, this video is difficult to watch; if you don't really care about rap or postmodernism, at least you can enjoy seeing the lily-white reporter awkwardly discuss the MC's shirt before telling him he's wrong about hip-hop being dead ("Kanye's up for eight Grammys!").

Shocking Stuffer

nasniggeralbum

BOOM! There it is, front and center. Try finding this beautiful thing at Wal-Mart. (You will not be able to.) But who cares? Fuck Wal-Mart's morality.—it's a put on. They're just afraid of the black man's dick.

Addendum: Surprising as it may be, we are not being sarcastic. Nas is great and so is this record.

We're All in This Together

nasnew

Aware that the title of his forthcoming record, Nigger, seems to cater to a very specific audience, this week Nas cleared the proverbial air, assuring MTV News that the album is for niggers of every color of the rainbow, not just the black ones.

"It's about the attacks that have happened to blacks, whites, all ethnicities…'Mick' niggers, 'guinea' niggers, 'kike' niggers. I have a song called 'You a Nigger Too.'"

Yeah you are!

Nas is awesome, the problem is he doesn't have an equally awesome publicist, who by now should have told him instead of using explanations that include the phrase "'kike' niggers," he should be saying, "Words are meaningless and malleable, and I'm brining postmodernity to commercial hip hop in a way that few – if any – have before. I'm asking people to address the validity they give to words, which are really nothing more than strings of letters."

Another song on Nigger is called "The Fear of the Black Man's Dick." I bet it's long. (Zing!) All my "niggers" say hooooooooooooooo!

Now It's How Racists Say It

nas1004

Much like slurs themselves, with their indistinct origins, frequent changes and constant cultural co-opting, Nas' upcoming album (initially said to be entitled Nigga, but then said to not be) has taken on another color (ha!) and shape since it originally ignited controversy. Now it is being reported that the record will use a squarer version of the "N-word" as the title, replacing the "a" with an "er," thereby making it 82 percent more awkward for white fans to inquire about at Best Buy.

Nas spoke openly about his, and the record label’s, decision to stick with the name. His last album, Hip Hop Is Dead, was supposed to don the title, but “the climate wasn’t right, and Hip Hop Is Dead is also what I was feeling…"

So what of all the controversy? “It’s like talking to your child about sex. It’s hard, but it’s important…

Def Jam Music Group chairman LA Reid has dismissed the rumor that Nas' next album will be titled Niggascuttlebutt started by Nas himself. And what a shame considering how excited we were to see a headline proclaim, "God's Son now Nigga." The conniptions would have been record-breaking.

Proving Bill O'Reilly Right

kattwilliams

If you thought that Nas Nigga thing was bad, shock your senses with this: Black comedian Katt Williams arriving at the BET Hip Hop Awards with a fucking noose around his neck! And this with two members of the Jena Six also in attendance (because brutalizing racists now gets a person invited to glamorous awards shows!). M-Fer, I want some more irony!

After threatening to bite off Bill O'Reilly's nose, rapper Nas has taken another step toward becoming our favorite guy by titling his forthcoming record Nigga. Fans are already in a tizzy over the news, but I ask them this: If one never minded him peppering his music with the word, why mind when it's the title of a work?
