Classy

So a funny thing happened on the way to the E.R. this morning … a UCLA hospital worker admitted to the courts that she had been selling the hospital records of famous patients like Farrah Fawcett and Britney Spears to weekly rag The National Enquirer.

49-year old Lawanda Jackson plead guilty to the felony charges that brought $4,600 dollars into her husbands checking account through the AMI mag, and could face 10 in prison and $250,000 in fines.

As for The National Enquirer's punishment for buying the records?

Our Trashy World

Is this a photo of sad, feeble trophy wife Cindy McCain kissing a "long-haired man who resembles 'a washed-up '80s rock musician'" (ie NOT her husband, John McCain)? According to outsider publication the National Enquirer, YES, IT IS!

Stunned? You shouldn't be. John McCain is a known misogynist who has in the past cruelly berated and humiliated Cindy, this after leaving his first wife when she became disfigured in a car accident. If a husband's going to be cheated on, he often will have been behaving like John McCain. Nevertheless, witnesses to the kiss, which took place in Tempe, a collegiate wasteland within spitting distance of central Phoenix, were dismayed:

Aftermath

The triple murder tragedy of Jennifer Hudson's family wasn't going to be ignored by the celebrity weeklies. Sadly, multiple deaths are what it takes to get a black girl on the cover of a tabloid. The editors of each weekly, then, had to consider how the competition was going to play the game. Only People and Us gave Hudson A1 treatment, while every other magazine at least included her in a sidebar or footer.

Life & Style and OK! ended up with the same photo. Only the Globe went with a picture of Jennifer with her mouth closed — because nothing says tragedy like eyes staring into the horizon and a mouth agape.

And the honor of Going Full Exploitative goes to, not surprisingly:

Hit Me Baby One More Time

Normally we wouldn't trust this story, courtesy of the National Enquirer, but we would have never believed that Britney Spears would shave her head and hold her child hostage in a bathroom, so it's safe to say that the Spears family isn't exactly predictable. And then there's the source, who was right that one time about John Edwards, so we can't fully doubt the credibility of this rumor. Instead, we'll just pray it's not true.

Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant again, y'all! Only three months after giving birth to her first child, the teenage mother is already knocked up for a second time.

'Jamie Lynn is about eight weeks pregnant, and she and her mom Lynne are hysterical. … Jamie Lynn believed she couldn’t get pregnant while she was breast-feeding. She’d expected to have her period by early September.' A home pregnancy test came back positive and Jamie Lynn cried her eyes out, said the source.

OK, first off, why is Lynne furious? This is just another child to add to her pot of boiling cash cows. You know she's already got OK! on the phone for yet another million dollar exclusive. Secondly, friends are supposedly urging JL to abort this baby so she can focus on the first. It's a shame there's no way to avoid getting pregnant in the first place … perhaps some sort of protection? Oh right, they make that. And JL obviously doesn't use it.

DID THE WITCHES MAKE PALIN CHEAT ON HER HUSBAND? Oh no! It looks like Kenyan sorcerer Thomas Muthee's big talk about protecting Sarah Palin from evil temptation might be a big sham: "The National Enquirer [which broke news of John Edwards' affair well before other news outlets] claims three sources - including one that signed a sworn affidavit - say Republican presidential nominee Sarah Palin cheated on her husband, Todd Palin, with his former business partner, Brad Hanson."

Seeing what the National Enquirer did with John Edwards — endless press (eventually) and a slight, but noticeable, newsstand bump — Us Weekly is definitely not getting left behind with, or letting the Enquirer own, the latest political scandal. Or, you know, the scandal that might not really be a scandal, just a little matter of unwed teen pregnancy.

Enter Sarah Palin.

Family Ties

This Us Weekly-esque picture of Rielle Hunter and her baby Francis, who may or may not be John Edwards' daughter, landed on the cover of the National Enquirer thanks to one of Rielle's sisters. Nice. Of the two potential snitches, one hasn't spoken to Rielle in 15 years and has already been previously identified as an Enquirer source. Gee, we wonder which one would sell a picture to the tabloid in exchange for a pocketful of cash?

We can't wait until this whole scandal blows over and it becomes a Lifetime movie.

Even A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day

The suddenly reliable (but only when John Edwards is involved) National Enquirer is still on the hunt for more proof that the tabloid was correct in its reporting, although nobody is really arguing otherwise. This time around the mag reveals even more details about John and his alleged mistress, Rielle Hunter — the latter of whom was flown on a $50,000 private jet to the Virgin Islands the day before Edwards' Nightline interview. This vacation was, of course, paid for by John's pals.

And as for the poor baby involved in all of this nonsense, Rielle has refused to allow a paternity test to determine the father because she believes Edwards will marry her after his cancer-ridden wife dies. Wow, that's romantic. Also, it sounds like John might not be the baby's daddy after all. But that doesn't mean he's not a slimeball.

Hey, John? Those Supermarket Tabloids Were Right.

John Edwards had a busy weekend. After admitting he cheated on his cancer-ridden wife, the former presidential candidate offered to take a paternity test to prove he did not father mistress Rielle Hunter's five-month-old daughter. Except — surprise! — Rielle announced that she would not participate in the test, therefore leaving this whole thing a mystery. Although it's not so much a mystery when it's obvious Edwards has lots more to hide.

Click through for his smarmy Nightline interview and count the lies.

This is a reminder that when we wrote about John Edwards' (formerly) alleged affair last week, citing the National Enquirer as a source, common commenter response was as follows:

lols the enquirer couldn’t get this to stick last fall and they can’t get it to stick now. andrew young has already said he’s the father of reille’s baby. lols

and

Here’s another shocker from the National Enquirer. It’s a good thing they reported on this and it came to light in such a big way in 2005.

We'll say it again: one should note that the Enquirer isn’t always wrong.

Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt will probably get more attention

enqedwardsexplodes.jpg

After weeks (months, actually) of reporting on the John Edwards mistress scandal, the National Enquirer has finally printed the “spy photo” of the former senator holding his alleged love child Frances Quinn Hunter, daughter of Rielle Hunter.

This is, of course, damning proof that the Edwards scandal is real! Or at least it should be.

No, Seriously

lynnecarwreck1.jpg

Why this is just coming out now, we have no idea: Lynne Spears ran over and killed a 12-year-old boy on his bike back in 1975. She was a mere 20 years old at the time and was driving her injured brother to the hospital in Kentwood, La. when she accidentally struck the child. A source close to the family blabbed to the Enquirer:

To this day, Lynne hasn't gotten over what she did. She gets that terrified look in her eye when she is thinking about it. She has told only a few people about the accident and always says, 'Please don't think I'm a bad person.'

And to top it off, Lynne's rep confirmed the story, saying, "It bothers Lynne still to this day." Obviously.

Just when we were beginning to think the Spears family could surprise us no longer. Touche, Lynne. Touche.

ryanreynolds

File this under: Not believable in the least. The National Enquirer is reporting that Ryan Reynolds has jealous tendencies and may be ruining his relationship with fiance Scarlett Johansson in the process.

He almost drove Scarlett away. Now that she is marrying him, she told him in no uncertain terms to quit being jealous — after all, he’s the one who is shattering many men’s dreams of getting sexy Scarlett down the aisle. But it drives him crazy when other guys flirt with her.

The 23-year-old Lost in Translation actress just finished working on a movie with hot actors Orlando Bloom and Ethan Hawke in New York City — and sources say Ryan, 31, was terrified she was going to fall for one of the hunks.

Normally we would excuse a man for being jealous of the likes of Orlando and Ethan, but Ryan Reynolds? Not acceptable. But let's look at the silver lining, shall we? Reynolds may soon be back on the market.

Given Five Weeks to Live

swayzeill

Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live, according to a shocking new report…

The actor, 55, was reportedly diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs.

For the past month, the actor and dancer has been traveling to Stanford University’s prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful…

Bear in mind that this news comes from the National Enquirer, which has been wrong many times before.

What Is Katherine Smoking?

katherine_hiegl5_wenn17757632.jpg

Katherine Heigl is reportedly trying to get out of her Grey's Anatomy contract so she can become a serious movie actress. This is all coming from the National Enquirer, so take it with a grain of salt.

After starring in the hit films Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, Katherine believes she has outgrown the small screen.

'Katherine has even suggested to Grey’s producers that they kill her character Dr. Izzie Stevens in dramatic fashion so her exit could bring in huge ratings,' a pal of the 29-year-old Emmy winner told The Enquirer.

Someone stars in a couple chick flicks and they think they're too good for Grey's? Let's hope McDreamy isn't aware of that rule.

A Family Affair

wenn17726102.jpg

We never watched Hogan Knows Best, but if the cameras were rolling during this whole fiasco, we might have tuned in.

The National Enquirer is reporting that Hulk Hogan had an affair with another woman while he was still married — and the other woman, of course, was a friend of his 19-year-old daughter, Brooke.

Christiane Plante, 33, said she was basically just helping to cheer up the Hulk, 54, during a difficult time. What, did he run out of self tanner?

My relationship with Terry began at a time when Terry and Linda privately knew their marriage was ending. She had left him already, although no official papers had been filed.

Terry is a good man, good father and a good friend, and he and I grew close at a time when he was going through a very difficult period. It seemed right then, but I know it was wrong.

Having felt the guilt and pain build up, I gave a note to Brooke apologizing for my actions. I will never be able to fully forgive myself for this. I have lost an amazing friend.

We won't be convinced until she shows us the orange stains on her clothing or bed sheets.
