BUT WHAT ABOUT SPAGHETTI CAT?! • "Look for Barbara Walters to name Barack Obama her 'Most Fascinating Person of 2008.' Right now, the ABC News empress isn't even acknowledging that the President-elect will appear on her annual roundup of newsmakers, which airs Thursday."

Barbara Walters released the names of some of her Most Fascinating People for 2008. Among the lucky losers are Will Smith (uh, why?), Tom Cruise (again, why?), Miley Cyrus, Tina Fey, Frank Langella, Rush Limbaugh and Michael Phelps. We agree with a few, but overall it looks to be another snoozefest.

There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who love Britney Spears and those who think she is plaguing our nation. For our readers who fall into the latter category and didn't enjoy her new music video for "Womanzier," perhaps you will find it tolerable with a little extra dose of Joel McHale. Seeing the Soup host wrapped in a towel with his little tuft of chest hair made us giggle uncontrollably and actually helped us sit through an entire clip of the video.

And on another note: Spaghetti Cat made an appearance after what is easily one of the most bizarre clips ever shown on The Soup. We were almost too busy reeling from the blue dog to notice our dear feline being wheeled onto the screen, but it was great to see he's doing well in light of his recent popularity. Faithful Mollygood reader stopthemadness must be psychic, because we were just thinking yesterday that it had been too long since we'd caught up with Spaghetti Cat. Lo and behold, a few hours later we received this clip in our inbox, featuring SC in his latest movie role. It brings a tear to our eye to know that our little baby is growing up and making it big. (And thanks to Keeblerkahn, who made the discovery.)

Our favorite part is at the 0:50 mark, when SC uses his paw to dodge multiple bullets. What a cat.

Facebook has caught on to the Spaghetti Cat craze, which has officially legitimized the feline's celebrity. But unfortunately for SC, who is now featured in the SuperPoke application, he is being falsely represented by a Hello Kitty impostor (as accurately pointed out by rumour has it). Would it have killed the designers to at least make the cat black, if they weren't going to use the actual image of SC? This is an outrage.

We love Joel McHale for many reasons, one of them being his obsession with Spaghetti Cat. On last night's The Soup, he premiered a new movie trailer featuring our beloved feline alongside Joel's dog, Lou. It was, in a word, glorious.

Sometimes our readers do something so brilliant it's worth recognition, and this is one of those instances. Thanks to killorn for putting together a lovely tribute to Spaghetti Cat, which features the feline among other great American symbols. It's truly touching.

The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet finally acknowledged the mystery that is Spaghetti Cat, the hungry feline who first popped up on the show unexpectedly a few weeks ago during a segment on binge drinking. Since then, America has fallen in love with SC, but we have never quite understood where he came from. Turns out Spaghetti Cat (who also answers to "Bowtie Head") is a real animal with an ability to eat food with utensils, thanks to his crazy owner. Impressive.

I would also like to take this moment to publicly apologize to my roommate, whom I yelled at two nights ago for actually thinking Spaghetti Cat was a real animal (yes, I talk about SC a lot, I'm in love). I still don't quite understand how a cat has shoulders, but that's part of Spaghetti Cat's charm.

The legend of Spaghetti Cat is inexplicably sweeping the nation, mainly because there is an air of mystery surrounding the feline. What was he doing popping up on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet? Why did nobody speak of him during the program? Why is he eating spaghetti? Why does the spaghetti have no sauce?

Thanks to stopthemadness, who did some digging, we have the answer to one of those questions:

[A Mike and Juliet] spokesperson said, 'What you saw was our new bleep photo. When someone says something inappropriate we're going to use something like that. You're going to see a lot more of those in the future.'

Count us in. This is one of the best ideas the television networks have ever had.
