Yeah, I started drinking when I was 19. Hey, its legal in Canada and Canada is only 20 minutes away. Then you know, came the esctasy, cocaine, etc. etc. before I was even 21. I'm sure she'll be fine. The Olsens turned out alright.

my mom drank with me when i was underage. the rule was if you're going to drink it's going to be with me and you're not allowed to leave the house until the next day. it wasn't an everyday thing, maybe once or twice a month but it kept me from going out and getting drunk with a bunch of my friends.

Anyways, how are you defining freedom? No one is free in the anarchist sense of the word. It is part of living in society that you trade some freedoms for protections. I want the freedom to control? Well by your logic I should have it. Because we should all be able to do what we want, without the impediment of government. What I was saying is that I want freedom FROM control, usually from the tryanny of the masses, sometimes the government, but always with the realization (as I said above) that my rights end where yours begin.

I am actually quite anti-government restriction. Freedom, true freedom, however, is not just freedom from government. To me, it is also freedom from others. That construct necesssarily requires a governing body to protect my rights against others - given that this is not a utopia and I believe people are intrinsicaly selfish. If there isn't some sort of governing body you are reduced to a "might makes right" sort of society, which I believe stifles any sort of progress. If I need to "control" you by calling the cops when you try to steal my t.v., I don't believe it is anti-freedom to do so. If I need to tell the block that you killed my cat so they exercise societal pressure on you so you don't kill anyone else's cat, I don't think it is anti-freedom to do that either. THAT is why I asked you for your definitions. That is why I tried to see exactly what you were saying before I jumped on you. Instead I will do the human, selfish, thing and just say that your ethos is made up of bumper-stickers, superfical and clearly not thought out.
