Us is reporting that the ratings heavyweight is shopping for a Paula Abdul replacement, and apparently they're looking to the Yoko of grunge to fill her shoes. That's right, Courtney Love has been tapped to guest judge, and possibly take over for Abdul.
Love reveals to her favorite magazine Web site that Idol's executive producer Nigel Lythgoe called her office last week inquiring into whether she would be interested in sitting in as a judge on the hit FOX show.
"He called," Love tells Usmagazine.com. "He was wondering if I was interested. I thought it was kind of weird but brilliant."
Is FOX lining up a replacement for slap-happy Paula Abdul, or just looking to spice up the show with the always-entertaining rocker/actress? Love, who is currently in L.A. recording a solo album, declined to reveal any more specific details.
But a source tells Usmagazine.com that Lythgoe was considering having Love "replace Paula."
FOX, hate to break it to you, but replacing Paula Abdul with Courtney Love is like replacing a Merlot stain with a blood stain.
That said, I think I'll file this under "To believe when seen," especially considering their main source is Love herself who, in the past, has also tried to convince people that she's godlike and cool. Both of which seem to be fairly specious claims.

The only way Courtney Love would work on American Idol is if they moved it to HBO. Can you imagine the repartee between Courtney and Simon? She'd probably end up stabbing him with her prison shank.

If they DROP Paula from that show, it is the kiss of death, I tell ya! Like Simon Says, she is the "heart" of the show. If she was NOT on, the contestants would be so DEFEATED that they would all walk off and slit their wrists. SOMEONE must love them unconditionally! ANd, that someone is Paula! Courtney, WTF?!!
They should get Lily Allen on the show. Cowell would get a run for his money when it came to (occasionally) bitchy comments!!

we do not need courtney love on tv…..ever!!!!
not only that, but no matter how odd paula acts, she is still part of American Idol…they can't get rid of her now. They probably won't anyway b/c I think there is talk of replacing her every year almost and they never do!
