You Betcha

Now that the election is over and both Tina Fey and Sarah Palin have ended their runs playing the potential future Vice President, what's in the cards for the two women? Both are hilarious — one intentionally, one unintentionally — and both are beautiful and (arguably) talented. So who will stand a better chance for success in life after the presidential election?

Ask anyone who they like better — Tina Fey or Sarah Palin — and they will probably prefer the former SNL funny lady over the scary woman who was a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. But here's the thing about Tina: She's been loved for years and simply enjoyed a resurgence of popularity thanks to her likeness to Palin. Now that her stint as the Alaskan governor has officially come to an end, it's back to 30 Rock and guest spots on SNL from time to time.

Palin's future, however, tells a different story: This crazy lady went from a no-name to an overnight sensation and won the country over, thanks to John McCain's mental instability. Some loved her for her unbelievable stupidity, but other crazies truly thought she represented the future of American politics. Sure, she's back to Alaska for now, but there is a clear opportunity for her presidential run in 2012 (which will hopefully make for an easy Obama reelection). On top of that, there's been talk that she plans to host a talk show — so she's not going anywhere anytime soon. Sorry, y'all.

So, in the end, although Tina Fey trumps Sarah Palin any day of the week, it looks like the success the Alaskan governor is experiencing at the moment is far more powerful than the country's love for the comedian. See ya around, Sar.

The Repubs even got less of the vote share in Alaska than they did in 2004 - maybe Alaskans will reject her too.

Things Palin May Do In the Future

1. judge the next Miss America pageant
2. hide under her bearskin rug awaiting the inevitable second coming of Christ
3. get the Repub nom for 2012, make a complete idiot of herself, and singlehandedly destroy what's left of their party's organizational structure
4. move to the country of Africa in an effort to strengthen her foreign policy experience
5. rally her troops around the right-wing pain points with a Democratic leadership - i.e. abortion - and attempt to make some sort of a respectable name for herself that way

Sadly, I think the #5 may be closest to the truth.

"Strategery"

Thank you Will Farrell! Your dead-on impression of Dubya still leaves me in stitches.

Maybe Sarah Palin can be run for President of "Such As". Miss Teen South Carolina can be the Ambassador to the county of Africa.

#9 - paperback_writer - "The Repubs even got less of the vote share in Alaska than they did in 2004 - maybe Alaskans will reject her too."

Actually Alaska was one of three states were the popular vote share percentage went up for the Republican ticket versus 2004. The other two were Arkansas and Louisiana.

I think the first thing Governor Palin does is sign a book contract, probably for a multi-million dollar advance. Because under Alskan law she cannot accept money to do things like a TV show but she can for a book deal.

Sarah Palin's future is as dim as she is. Unfortunately for her, she's going to be thrown under the conservative bus as the reason John McCain lost the election. I almost feel bad for her.

Almost, you know, until I remember that she shoots endangered species from aboard an aircraft, wants to remove womens' vaginas from their control, and thinks gays should just 'pray away the gay.'

Good riddance you bitch. May you down in flames.

The nightly news in Oklahoma is downright depressing.

Instead of congratulating Obama yesterday they actually had a poll to see how many people thought Sarah Palin could beat Barack Obama in 2012.

63% said yes!!!!!

I encourage Sarah Parah to either continue being blamed for McCain's loss, or run for President in 2012. With the first option, she's destroyed politically and I never have to be bothered by her again. With the second, she single handedly destroys the Republican party as we know and hate it, and ensures four more democratic years.
Keep on truckin', Sarah Parah.
