me: how was the sopranos finale
i don't watch it
was it a disappointment
to people?
Brendan: ha, I thought it was a perfect ending… completely open ended and ambiguous… just like the central moral conceit of the show
me: a lot of people were upset that he didn't die, right?
Brendan: it was a big F-you to the people who only watch for the surface level blood and guts of the show…
so yea, alot of people were pissed off… but I liked it
Brendan: I mean, anyone who watched it and thought David Chase would wrap it up in a neat package, didnt really understand what the show was about… but, at the same time, I can understand how the fact that the show just cut to black at the end would frustrate even the most deep thinking viewers
me: interesting
from a non-fan's perspective, i kinda liked the ending
you think there's assassins everywhere
Brendan: yea, all the little dramatic tensions gave the viewer a sense of paranoia- real or imagined, then left it up to us to interpret the ending… that was pretty cool…
me:i'm going to put this on mollygood, ok?
Brendan:yea, sure no problem

I LOVED IT!!! Been a fan since the beginning and I totally got it. There are just so many ways to interpret this ending which is brilliant. Life doesn't wrap up tidy perfect answers into nice little packages, why should Sopranos? And if you were looking for a great bloodbath whackjob at the end, then you were sadly mistaken and watching the wrong show to begin with…
Of course, Tony Soprano is my #1 wet dream so what do I know???!!!
Brandon is kind or a dick…
If it's one or the other, I'd say "Brandon" is kind, not a dick.
Best,
Cord
