Unlike, say, Barack Obama, Saturday Night Live had no problem filling that Rahm Emanuel spot during this week's broadcast. Because although there is only one African-American cast member right now on the show, there's at least 50 Jews hanging out in the green room.

What they need is a really funny woman who is black and also jewish. Where could they find such a woman?
Are you irritated about how many Jews there are? If you switch the groups around to say that there's only one Jew but at least 50 African-Americans hanging around in the Green Room, it seems … ick.
There is a valid reason for bemoaning the lack of certain groups (take your pick: African-Americans, Hispanics, women, gays, the list goes on) in prominent positions in many fields, because we are still working to overcome our nation's racist/sexist/intolerant past (and occasionally present).
But to take the opposite tack and moan about how MANY of a certain minority are in a certain job … that seems somehow racist.
Just my opinion.
Clarification: I don't mean to sound like a hater. I love this blog and read it enough to know that you're probably left of left. It just seemed odd, is all.
Cheryl, I didn't see any complaint in the posting - just an observation.
The lack of African-American castmembers has pointed out several times on here lately so I can see where Cheryl is coming from.
