If ever there were a case to keep religion out of America’s public schools, it’s Sherri Shepherd, the Bible beating court jester of The View.

Listen with the delight of a true sinner as Shepherd, during a discussion about Epicurus, attests that the ancient Greeks used to mingle with Christians. According to her recollection: “They had Christians because they threw them to the lions.” Then this: “I don’t think anything predated Christians.”

Shepherd, you’ll remember, has also said that she’s not sure if the world is round. Funny if it weren’t so, so crazy and inaccurate.

And worse, UNINFORMED people who state their religious views as fact. I’m ok if you can back it up, but um… Sherri? If the base of “Christian” is “Christ,” how can nothing predate Christians? If no people were around before Christ, how did you get Mary, Joseph, etc?

Dear Sherri,
I’m irate. I’m befuddled that someone so unbelievably ignorant like yourself is being paid to share her unfounded, uneducated opinions with America. “Jesus came first, before them.” Jesus came before the Greeks? Here’s a quick history lesson for you:
Jesus’ birth is marked as 7???2 BC/BCE and his death around 26???36 AD/CE. The Hellenistic period (I’m sure you’re confused as to what that means but it is the spreading of GREEK culture and colonization over the non-Greek lands) BEGINS with the death of Alexander the Great, in 323 BC, only a mere 316 years before the BIRTH of Jesus. Sorry Sherri, there is no basis for your argument.
Worst,
Yourmom

P.S. (That stands for post script): The world is round. Write that down.

What I love is how she says she doesn’t want to turn it into a religious debate. As if linear time as we know it is simply a matter of religion. Close up the entirety of physics, boys, Sherri solved everything by misapprehending the Bible!

I have to give her credit though. It takes a certain kind of something to be that wrong on national t.v. (and wrong even if you take only the new testament as the only historical fact in existence. Sidenote, I wonder if her pastor/priest or whatever is applicable, will slap her for this?) - and not feel ashamed or guilty about it. That is a sort of psychotic self-assuredness that I would like to have.

I have already written ABC and called them today. This is more then a religious issue, this is a supporting ignorance issue.

While ABC allows Christian rhetoric to fill their programming, this goes beyond that. This woman isn’t fit to host a show and discuss her views when in actuality she has known. Being stupid isn’t a view, its being stupid. America is hugging mediocrity at every turn nowadays and I for one can;t stand that this woman does not get called on her ignorance because she covers her stupidity with her “faith”. What’s amazing about her logic is she was even incorrect in regards to the faith she apparently has. honestly a woman who doesn’t know the Greeks were here before Chrisitans and Jesus and if the world is flat or not, should not be given any forum for discussing her “views”.

Here’s another train of thought, wouldn’t by saying that there was no one before the Christians kind of cancel out the whole basis for the Christian belief: Jesus is the savior of a sinful world?

If there was no world to save, that would make him a bit unnecessary…

By the way, in regards to IQ and religion, I believe the smarter you are the more you realize how much we , as humans, do not know and cannot explain, this leads to bigger questions beyond science and mere fact. Some of the smartest people are extremely religious–look at Einstein. I just thought I might put that out there.

economics, I am offended by your comment. I have an IQ of 136 and I AM a born again Christian. Mock me if you will. I have been tested FOUR times so I am quite sure of my score. I am far from unintelligent and I think that you are pretty ignorant yourself for judging an entire group of people based on their religious preference that has NOTHING to do with intelligence. It is completely NON fact-based at all to say Christians have lower IQ’s and you cannot prove that at all. And even if that were so, to say that people who have lower IQ’s have a lower quality of life is a disgrace on your part and I feel deeply sorry for you.

As far as Sherri’s comment goes, I think that she is not basing her comment on Christianity the religion per se, but the fact that GOD Himself has been around forever and was probably a bit confused. I think she is not very good at putting her facts together and not the best educated woman. But based on the Christian teaching, if you consider the Trinity, Jesus HAS been around forever because the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are One and therefore Jesus would have been with God in heaven before coming to Earth when He did. So, according to Christian teaching, she would have been correct, the Bible just doesn’t talk about Jesus beforehand. Only we don’t really know for sure when Jesus came along - was He with God in Heaven all along from the beginning of time? Or did He come later? We don’t know.

We do know that people WERE here before Jesus came to Earth and from what her comment implied, it came off as very uneducated and silly, regardless of the subject matter. And this being the second time in doing so, should she be ON the show??? I think The View needs to really evaluate who is going on the show because they are starting to look like fools for who they are putting out there.
