Yesterday, after being named their woman of the year, Scarlett Johansson took to the streets of Cambridge with the Harvard drama department. She rode atop a convertible in freezing temperatures for their annual Hasty Pudding parade, and graciously accepted the recognition for her "lasting contribution to entertainment." Hmmmm. "Lasting contribution to entertainment?" Isn't she only 22?

Oh well, I guess honoring the undeserving remains a tradition at Harvard.

I don't really have a concrete stance on grade inflation. You really think it's a problem at Harvs, or anywhere for that matter? The statisticians don't.

I'm not really distraught about the whole thing. The only point in the matter that I agree with is, if everyone's considered exceptional, doesn't that make exceptional meaningless?

22 is really old in Hollywood years, though, right?

    I'm SOOO over her anyway…

I think by "lasting contribution" they meant that her body of work is going to be esteemed for a long time, not that she has produced so much of it. It's obviously not a high-brow affair.

Well put, Cord. It is a shame that our education system has stooped the the level it has. Now, instead of deserving students getting deserving grades, they hand "A's" out like lollipops. Of course, we can't make anyone feel bad, or make them think they are not as intelligent as their peers. That would just hurt their precious little feelings, now wouldn't it? I thought college years were supposed to gear you towards the real world and a real working environment. How is rewarding everyone with equal grades helping them—or the better question—how is this idea going to better our society?

Grade inflation is obviously a result of our advances in technology. If you don't understand something, it's all too easy to google and find the information you need broken down into layman's terms.

I think Scarlett's lasting contribution to entertainment is her wankableness.

Lasting contribution to entertainment? Did no one at Harvard see Black Dahlia? Oh, I get it, they thought it was a comedy and she acted that horribly on purpose.
