Some Things Never Get Old

The mere thought that Alaskan idiot Sarah Palin could very well be running our country in the near future is no longer funny — but Tina Fey's impression of the VP nominee is. The former SNL-er's shtick is so dead-on that we stopped laughing after a while because it's not even that exaggerated: This lady truly is absurd. Tina, you are the only one who can help us through this.

I love Tina Fey, but I hope that she never has to play Sarah Palin again after November 5th.

The look on Amy Poehler's face sums up my feelings about the Palin candidacy.

If this is acceptible humor in light of the enormous importance of this year's presidential election, then i call this biased - UNLESS - you also include clips of Obama in which he changes his stand ( two faced?) Hanney and Colter had them on last night

Well, SNL has always been a little left-leaning . And, Sarah Palin is just more ridiculous than Joe Biden. Fact.
Biden has said some dumb shit recently, too. Like: "when the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on television…"

Bias? As in liberal bias?

It's satire. It's not supposed to be neutral.

Patty, if you'd stayed up later to watch more of the show, you'd have seen the debate sketch that skewered Obama as well.

Also, if you were a regular SNL viewer you'd have seen Amy Poehler do a great Hillary Clinton impression. And Bill Clinton was a hugely popular target in the 90s.

Tina Fey hit it out of the park. And all she had to do was rehash Palin's remarks and garnish them with a few lines of her own. Amy's impression of Katie Couric was fantastic.

Can't wait until Saturday.

Yep, it's biased. But it's SNL–not CNN.

That aside, it just isn't funny. And I don't mean that in an alarmist palin-could-be-the-downfall-of-our-nation way, and I also don't mean it in a the-media-is-so-mean-to-palin-waa-waa-waa type of way. I mean, it just doesn't make me laugh. I think it's a lame-ass skit.

poo - an SNL person (I think it was Fey) recently talked about SNL's philosophy of neutrality - that they just put the information out there and let people draw their own conclusions.

i didn't see the episode and i suspect it wouldn't bother me if they didn't seem neutral… that was more just fyi on their "official" stance.

but they've definitely skewered everyone a time or two. i loved the obama interview episode, where their question for him was "are you comfortable? can i get you anything?" :)

As much as I love Tina Fey, if she considers SNL to be "putting information out there", I would have to digress. SNL should just be funny, regardless of whom it is skewering. Worse, if people actually turn to SNL to get their info, that is sad.

Anyone else think that Katie Couric probably has her very own tanning bed at home?

What makes this funny (or is it scary?) is that when she responds about the bail out it is almost word for word what Palin actually said.

"UNLESS - you also include clips of Obama in which he changes his stand ( two faced?) "

do you mean flip flopping?

two face is a batman villain or the behavior of a 13 year old girl

Can SNL please just do a skit with Joe Biden asking contestants for their Government Bailout Showcase Showdown bids (come on, who here hasn't notice that Biden resembles Bob Barker) so the Palin-lovers can stop crying about bias?

I'm waiting for Amy to do Cindy McCain. It could be a kids commercial skit like Vicodin Barbie (Cindy) and Caribou Barbie (Palin): own the whole political collectors set.

The VP debate will be pure comedy, and if either one of them opens their mouths about wearing a bracelet…*sigh*
