Still Not Employing a Thesaurus

From TMZ, Hollywood's notorious hive of ill-bred bullies: "So our spies at a few Hollywood restaurants have weighed in on celeb tippers and gyppers. And the verdict is in."
Classy! We can't wait for Levin et al's item on which studio execs are the best at Jewing down actors' salary demands.
Oh: The bad tippers are the Beckhams.

Now that's no way to treat the people you have at your "beck ham call." Zing!
Dude, did you just say "jewing"? I don't think that's …er, em kosher.
Um, maria? That's the point.
Christ! I swear I've read before. I swear. I'll go now.
Also, now the picture makes sense.
I need a cup o' joe (or two).
Ham isn't kosher either.
That's it. I'm disgusted by your use of that anti-semitic slur. It's offensive and horrible and I never thought I'd see that in a mollygood piece. You need to apologize for your hateful remark and remove them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmm…ham
termite- He is critisizing TMZ for using the word "gyppers" and to mock TMZ he uses other overtly offensive language like "Jewing down" salaries. He implies himself that it's unclassy.
termite obviously missed the whole point of the post as well.
Thank you for making this point. I called someone on using the term "jerry-rigged" recently, and their reply was that it was better than saying "afro-engineering". They had no idea it was a slur against Germans, and I had no idea they had such a limited vocabulary, so it all worked out.
Actually, it's "jury-rigged" and it's not a racist remark.
"Jury-rigging is an originally nautical term that refers to makeshift repairs or substitutes, made with only the tools and materials that happen to be on hand. The jury in jury-rigging could be from a Latin or Old French root meaning "aid" or "succour." It could also be a shortening of "injury-rigging." It could also be from the French word jour for day, signifying a temporary solution.
Sometimes the phrase is pronounced "jerry-rig", which is often thought to be derived from the slur "Jerry" or "Gerry" which is a derogative reference to Germans and gained notoriety in World War II. In fact, "jerry-rig" derives from the phrase "jerry-built", which has the same meaning and predates the use of "Jerry" as a slur."
ilnahzad: No, I believe, while it may predate the it, if you ask most English people of a certain age, they will definitely admit they intend it as a slur. Etymology means little when it comes to use. The "N" word's etymology would indicate it isn't a racial slur, but we know different.
"predate it"
jerry rig is a term, and it does refer to the pejorative WWII term for Germans.
