Four Killed, Two Injured

Travis Barker and DJ AM survived a Learjet crash late Friday night that killed the other four people on board the plane. The two men were admitted to burn units and listed in critical condition.

Travis and DJ AM had performed at a concert Friday with Gavin DeGraw and former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell, but Gavin and Perry were not on the plane. Of the four who died, two were pilots, one was a security guard and one was Travis' 26-year-old assistant, who was recently married and had a baby.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane was taking off when air traffic controllers reported seeing sparks; the plane then went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road, where it burst into flames. Travis was burned from the waist down; DJ AM's face suffered severe burns. Both men are expected to survive.

Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased.

mostly everything about the celebrity world is surreal and superficial and hardly compares to the obstacles facing americans day in and day out.

not gonna lie, i cried in relief that they survived and i cried in sadness for those who died. dunno any of them. tragedy is tragedy.

mike, forget being screwed up, it just wasn't even funny…

the fact that travis' assistant died and he was on his way to see his wife, who was going into labor and had a baby THIS morning, makes even a hard, sarcastic chrissy quite sad.

The same day, 7 soldiers died in Iraq. I think they deserve a little attention, too.

broomstick, didnt you know, news isn't news unless the dead soldiers are mentioned. the sick contaminated milk kids in china? no…must discuss soldiers.

don't get me wrong. i support all those soldiers and respect everything they do….but there are still other things going on, and since we know the numbers, someone is reporting on it. and if they went crazy reporting about it every single day…because lord knows, they are dying every few hours…we would go nuts. sad but true.

Leslie B, I hope you're right. That would be a dream come true. They don't have to make any new music, I just NEED them to go on tour one last time. They are on a list of bands to see before I die (seeing as how they were the soundtrack to a better part of my teenage years) because for some reason I haven't yet been to a show.

Broomstick- I was talking about news programs. By not even mentioning the seven American soldiers that died, but going on about a plain crash (a tragic one!), the news was indirectly saying that dead heroes are not a "big deal."

Actually, I've been seeing a lot more coverage on the seven dead… so I might have been talking out of my ass.

Nurse: Ma'am, may I help you?

Milly: Cancer please.

Nurse: Would you like a side of colostomy bag and radiation sickness?

Milly: No. Just an inoperable brain tumor. Six months to live.

Nurse: Alrighty then. One brain bulge with no sides. anything else. A radioactive shake perhaps?

Milly: No. I'm fine.

Cancer Centers of America. Have it your way!

Gavin DeGraw. Gavin DeGraw. I think at first I thought you meant Gavin Rossdale, but that wouldn't make any sense… he may not be a big stah, but he's married to Gwen Stefani and therefore would not be touring with that guy from Blink 182. I have to admit I'm a little puzzled about Perry Farrell, but frankly, and I say this with love, he'll take it any way he can these days.
Yes, this is tragic. I can't imagine what Barker's assistant's wife (or girlfriend) must be going through right now, after delivering her baby on the same day. It's awful.
That was my heartfelt moment… please don't expect me to have another one. I am distracted by not knowing who this Gavin DeGraw person is.
Gavin DeGraw. God, that's gonna bug me…
Wait - is he DR. PHIL'S SON?!

Sarah, Gavin DeGraw sings the theme song for One Tree Hill- "I Don't Want To Be". He also had a song "Chariot" that was mildly popular and now he has a song "I'm In Love With a Girl" that features Kristen from Laguna Beach in the video. He is definitely catering to a very specific crowd. He also ALWAYS wears a hat. I think he might have some premature balding.

The story that Barker's assistant's wife was going into labor was false. She isn't even pregnant. They were heading back for another show. The assistant and his wife do have a two year old son. Whatever the case, it is still a very sad story.

Those two men are incredibly lucky to be alive, it is tragic that so many people died in the flight. Gavin DeGraw is Whitney's future husband right? The one she braved TRL to see?

Oh, so Gavin DeGraw is that dude who thinks he's Cat Stevens. Now I know. However, I am still working on the assumption that he's Dr. Phil's kid, as I believe also that he is bald.
