Celebrity Portraits Worth Seeing
Vanity Fair is this month running yet another celebrity photo shoot and, guess what? For once, it's cool!
The concept was to recreate famous scenes from Alfred Hitchcock films and some of the resultant shots are beautiful. Finally, an idea good enough that it makes Annie Leibovitz and her dozen assistants seem interesting.

Carter is such a sycophant for the lily white ideal he sees is beauty and power-and I guess, Hitchcock a jew with serious self loathing issues completely compliments his aim/aesthetic.
Urgh. I despise this guy. I do love Hitchcock and actually, have all his films and I just dont think TIPPI 'FUCKIN' HEDREN is Jodie Foster?!!!
Emile Hirsch and James McAvoy… Oi.
And sorry to go on and on and on…..BUT the art direction in this-is soo lazy and based on what studios want and who's gonna be big or who he likes…
He thinks he is kinda smart to choose a mixture of the Leighs with newbies like Johansson but I just hope people see the bullshit…
LOL! I'll admit, I'm a bit angry passionate about this because I LOVE magazines/fashion/culture from since I was 8 and also work/worked in this industry with soo many talented people-that it hurts..
But shit happens and I guess, this is better then nothing…
There are a few choices that I question in the casting but probably because nothing can replace the original. Well, at least in my mind. Not even close on the birds and Naomi is ok as, Marnie.
And for some reason, Gwenyth as Grace Kelly, has sent me into a rage.
boo hoo- I feel your rage and i too work/worked in the business. thank you for pointing out the lazy art direction but corporations dont care- people like Carter that fancy themselves artists are an insult to all art everywhere. any art form attached to corporate media these days is S H I T and forgive those of us who are pumping it out. I hope to escape and redeem myself but I need dolla dolla bills to do it.
JuJu- exactly…
SP-EXACTLY!
:(
Rage = Seth Rogan as Cary Grant.
The only good ones are Charlize and Naomi Watts.
I love love Seth Rogen, but him as Cary Grant is quite sad. Clooney was too busy?? It should have been Micheal Cera from that whole scene.

juju - that's because Grace Kelly ended up being royalty while at the same time didn't come off as being overly pretentious. Gweneth on the other hand seems to envision herself as Hollywood royalty and can do nothing BUT look down her nose at people. She hates everyone who doesn't do yoga and eats cheese. Sorry bitch! I like quesadillas and I can't touch my toes…screw you lady!
Yes, Grace Kelly had, pun intended, grace. It was natural and effortless. Gwenyth tries to emulate that but it looks forced. I don't even want to talk about Rogan as Cary Grant.
I do like him and think he's pretty funny. I like gross humor, that's obvious. But please, he is the anti Grant. Jodi Foster as Tippi was so wrong. They made her look like a deranged librarian. I normally like her movies. Except for that airplane movie. By the end I wanted to throw her off the plane.
I think the Strangers on A Train shot (with Hirsch and McAvoy) is put together quite well. So is the shot depicting "The Lifeboat" — there's a lot of talent in that pic. Nice job.
Renee Zellweger as Kim Novak? NOT HARDLY. Damn, Kim Novak was just stunningly beautiful. I think Renee would have been better cast as Barbara Bel Geddes — she's a Midge for sure.
