The New York Post is reporting that Rosie O'Donnel's most recent attack on The View's resident conservative may have just been the straw that broke the Hasselbeck (yuk, yuk, yuk):

An on-air dig from co-host Rosie O'Donnell during an episode of "The View" this week left co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck in tears after the taping, sources told Page Six. "Elisabeth just can't take it any more," the insider said of her tensions with O'Donnell, who constantly slams her conservative stance. Things got especially ugly on Wednesday. Hasselbeck said she supported the government's access to citizens' phone conversations. Liberal O'Donnell responded, "Elisabeth, you are very young and you are very wrong." Hasselbeck accused Rosie of ageism and broke down later off-camera. By yesterday afternoon, Rosie had blogged: "i said some of elisabeth's comments were ignorant which was ignorant itself."

Ummm, Elisabeth, getting weepy when people you've butted heads with in the past call you the most innocuous of insults isn't doing anything to combat the "very young" image. So you should probably dry those eyes and act like the 30-year-old you expect to be treated like. Cool?

Rosie only picks on her because Elizabeth gets so upset. Classic schoolyard bully situation. They need to get a stronger personality on their who can actually hold their own against Rosie and not be talked down all the time. It's just not even interesting to watch anymore. The idea of the show was to have a diverse group of women representing different viewpoints. Rosie doesn't let anyone get a word in who doesn't agree with her, not just Elizabeth.

Rosie is a bully. The View is getting like Jerry Springer. I like Elisabeth because she still speaks her view even though she knows she will get ganged up on by Rosie and the very rude Joy. Elisabeth just needs to suck it up and get back into the ring. Go Elisabeth!!!

Go Rosie! At least she realized what she said was wrong. During the past election I was called ignorant by my whole family except my sister b/c I was voting for Kerry. I was also called a socialist baby killer and I did not get one apology.

if elizabeth leaves the view, i'll be done…i don't always agree with her, but Rosie and Joy are too much for me on a regular basis. It would pretty much be Rosie's show - NO THANKS.

Rosie is a bully. Elisabeth is entitiled to her stance without Rosie basically acusing her of being stupid if she doesn't share her opinions. I was glad that the next day they had Dennis Miller on who shared Elisabeth's opinion on the patriot act. It at least conveyed to Rosie that Elisabeth doesn't just support it because she's young and dumb.
As for Elisabeth crying- They were probably just tears of frustration. Knowing that the job that you love isn't something that you can go on doing is probably a very frustrating feeling.
Elisabeth brings some balance to that show. Rosie is too loud and too much for me and Joy can be border line obnoxious. If Elisabeth goes, there won't be any "view" except for Rosie's. Might as well as rename it to "Everyone think like Rosie or pay the price!"

I'm going to say something very unpopular … but sometimes it is annoying to hear the 'younger' generation ramble on about issues…sometimes they are a little naive…sorry, i know that's not fair and it's 'mean', but I can see where Rosie might at times get frustrated with how Elizabeth thinks…it's just a generation gap and since I'm closer to Rosie's age than E.'s, I can relate..sometimes it is hard to hear the younger generations opinions after you've 'been there, done that' for so many years…you just think 'oh that younger group just doesn't get it!'….I'm sure our parents felt this way with us sometimes, too…..at least she did apologize, which is what i usually end up doing too when someone of the younger gen. says something I don't agree with..

I don't think it's so much that Elizabeth is of a "younger" generation than Rosie. I think it is simply that Elizabeth hasn't learned how to strongly debate her opinions without getting emotional. I don't think she'll be any different when she is 45. Just because she gets too emotional and can't stand up for herself, Rosie takes that as a sign of weakness and keeps the attacks coming. Think about the idiotic Donald/Rosie feud for a second. Everyone jumped on Trump for the personal attacks on Rosie, and felt sorry for her…but really she held her own just fine. We didn't see her dissolving in tears because Donald picked on her. I don't agree with Rosie's politics certainly, but I do admire the fact that she doesn't take shit. Elizabeth needs to learn that, or she should just quit and give someone else a chance.

Freedom of speech, people - but not freedom to tap phones!
Elizabeth signed on for this gig and all the exposure and privileges
it brings her. I predict she will ride this out a little while longer and then
get her own "commentary-type" program to showcase her agenda.
However, she is still too young for that kind of responsibility. She would have to become a little more informed first. She continuously comes off petulant and immature - even when she is not talking politics! I'm with Rosie on this one.

Yes, freedom of speech…that means you have to respect the right of people to say things even if you don't agree with them, not shout them down and bring them to tears just because you can. The object is to get your point across without coming off like a total ass. There's still room for all of us in this big old melting pot.

She cried off-camera. It's not like she broke down during the camera. People do that at any age.

I don't side with either one of them, though. Much like Trump and Rosie or the Dixie Chicks and Toby Keith, I think they're all pretty immature.

Not that I agree 100% with Rosie, but I like Elisabeth SO much better when she was trapped on that island–or wherever she was–on SURVIVOR. She was too weak to open up her mouth and spew her unintelligible opinions.

OK, Rosie is kind of being a bully, but c'mon! Do you hear what Elizabeth is saying? She wouldn't mind having her rights taken away? They should make an segment that sends her off to a country, where she'll have no rights, the government watches her every move, random searches, etc. for a year and then she can let us know what a swell time she had.

If E knew anything about the Patriot Act she wouldn't be defending it. the argument of "I have nothing to hide so they can spy on me all they want" is not only ignorant but it's dangerous. Furthermore, would phone tapping have prevented 911? No! From my understanding they had all the information they needed to stop it from happening (memos, flight school records and reports, terrorist lists, etc.). It's the same with any of her "issues"… It's evident that she gets her "information" from "news" sources like Fox, Rush & Hannity who don't report on the news, but simply opine, name call and flat out lie. I was on a road trip recently and could only get Rush and Hannity on the radio. I decided to listen with an open mind, but they lied so blatantly and so often it was difficult to listen to…not to mention, Rush blames EVERYTHING on the Clinton's include the death of ANS!! WTF?. Ugh. Well, the reason that E gets so upset is that she doesn't know what the hell she's talking about and cannot back up her statements with any kind of evidence except that that is what she heard. These Republicans constantly scream about American tradition, but when it comes to taking away civil liberties they're all on board. Just because you're told "it's for your own good" or "it's making you safe" or "they hate you for your freedom" (so I am going to take that away) doesn't make it so.

Ugghh! Enoough already with "Rosie the walking contradication"! She wants everyone to be open minded and to accept her lifestyle and her point of view, but she can't even listen or respect anyone else's point of view because it contradicts her's…. I am so glad I work during the day so I don't see this garbage. I feel sorry for her children- if this is the way she deals with another adult imagine how she deals with her children. "it's my way or I feel sorry for you".

i'm w/ you be adequite, barabara wawa is the worst. she should retire already. as far as rosie & elizabeth go, rosie is annoying & elizabeth does offer some balance to the show. i'm not a republican nor a democrat, more socialist actually, but the patriot act doesn't affect me. i have nothing to hide. if they are using it to screen potential terrorist acts, i'm more for it than against it. if it is abused to invade privacy & choices made by consenting adults, i would have a problem w/ it, but i honestly don't think our government has the time nor resources to use it in this way.

generation gap, my ass- I'm barely older than Elizabeth (I'm 31) and I can't stand her. She's shrill, uninformed, and part of the movement that wants to give away our rights one at a time. But don't get me wrong - Rosie chaps my hide almost as much as Elizabeth, because she makes all liberals/democrats/gay people look like retarded rhyming bullies, and she often becomes like that stereotypical right winger that she hates so much by just screaming louder to get her point across. Ba-ba-wa is almost worse than the two of them put together. I think Joy is the only one on the show that doesn't tick me off - she's funny without being too political or condescending, and I bet you won't catch HER crying after the show!!

the show "is" called the VIEW!!!! Sharing your views and LISTENING to others….. Rosie was hired because she is very opionated and "vocal"…… Elizabeth needs to "stand up and be heard" or she'll be out of a job. She is acting like the runt of the litter…."poor me….ageism"???? You need to be able to argue your point without putting down someone else personally - but don't play the victim either!!! Experience and age make you grow - but it doesn't always change your basic principles and philosphies about life. Bad girls!! Play nice… But then again…who would watch the show???
