Well-known pet owner Michael Vick has been sentenced to 23 months in prison for a laundry list of felonies associated with a dog fighting ring he was convicted of financing. Vick, 27, had been facing a maximum sentence of five years.

Vick also agreed to pay more than $900,000 for the care of dozens of pit bulls seized from his Virginia home.

It is still unknown whether or not the criminally violent ex-Atlanta Falcon will ever be allowed to return to the field and smash into other men for the amusement of others.

Oh the irony. With the exception that when Michael loses he isn't killed and stuffed into a trash bag for not performing well.

Call me crazy but I think there are people who might need that $900,000 more than the pooches. It just seems silly to designate that high a dollar amount to a specific thing, like some jerk will probably get a bigger salary than mine just for feeding and taking the bitches on walks. Oh well.

First Leona Helmsley's dog get millions and now his dogs get 900,000. Bitches are going to be able to buy houses with 512 bathrooms but I can't. Craziness I tell you, craziness.

23 months, what a joke! Not surprised though, ugh.
"smash into other men for the amusement of others", not a big football fan are we Cordy? Come on, there's gotta be SOMETHING you like. Other than being relentlessly teased by your readers of course :)

chelsea, these charges are federal so there's no "good behavior" bullshit, he'll have to do at least 85% of the 23 months.
Which is still way, way, way too little.

I don't care how much money this guy has to pay. Shit, it seems like everyone today thinks that as long as you pay a fine, all is redeemed.

Do you think he'd be able to play pro-football if he were a rapist or a pedophile (and not like the R Kelly kind, but the "hey little girl, want some candy?" type? Not so much. They are all felonies, but some are "ickier" than others. He should be banned from football for life. Hell, Pete Rose was banned for life just for betting.

Dog fighting is bad and all, but people who kill others while drunk driving get less time than that. I wonder what the actual maximum sentence given out for animal cruelty is. Probably not much.

    No. 28 playla says:

These charges carry a maximum sentence of 5 years…so he didn't get the maximum although he did get more than most but the judge said that was partly because Vick denied his involvement until everyone else in the dog fighting ring or business or whatever had told the truth. So it was his unwillingness to admit wrongdoing that caused him to get a heavy sentence, in this case.

um, 23 months for dog-fighting? I don't, in any way, condone cruelty, but wtf? Hilton, Lohan and Spears spend mere minutes for endangering the lives of others, and their own lives, and this guy gets almost 2 years. WTF?

you people arn't getting the point. i have a pitbull and because of people like michael vick, lots of people call my dog scary and cruel til they actually get to meet her. she is banned in most places we go-even the DOG PARK. and all the celebrities who drink and drive are endangering people, yes you're right. but by NO MEANS are they soaking people and electricuting them, or are they waiting for people to cross the road, to slam on the gas and hit them. this guy MURDERED dogs because they were not good enough to make a profit off his cruel sport. waste of time and space. but the thing is-my dog is NOT a waste of space, but most people still treat her as such…

so i think he deserves 23 months. i think more. because everywhere i go i have to plan out what to do about my poor dog so that she doesn't get the short end of the stick. ALL BECAUSE OF DOGFIGHTING AND IRRESPONSIBLE PITBULL OWNERS…how would anyone like it if your labrador was taken away. or your cocker spaniel? dont tell me pitbulls are aggressive-because ive been bitten by both a cocker spaniel AND a labrador. (both happened to be outside dogs-dogs who are ALWAYS ALONE) so i dont blame it on the dogs that bit me, i blame it on the idiots that had them chained up outside with no one to teach them that people arnt dogs and its not ok to play aggressive or be dominant like they did!) so PLEASE stop talking about michael vicks bathrooms and get over the fact of money. if any of you have a pet, and someone did what he did to your baby, then you'd be pushing for WAY more than 23 months!
