Alas, in the 90s, I Was But a Young Soccer Jock

lilygoth2

Probably unbeknownst to her, here, at London Fashion Week, Lily Allen has taken on the look of the middle school crush I was too insecure to acknowledge, for fear of also being branded as “weird.” To me, she looks like a pastiche of nostalgia, innocence, morbidity and sex, and she’s making me feel angry about the weakness of boys.

Who would have thought a post about Lily Allen would be so oddly touching?

I love that Cord added the “probably unbeknownst to her” as though maybe Lily has been digging around to find out what might get Cord to notice her.

I don’t know why, but I am deeply disturbed by the combo (even superficial) of The Cure and Lily Allen. Deeply.

I could see her and Robert Smith. As long as there were no bright lights pointing at them.

Lisa: It’s purely a physical match thing. For instance, they would make good bookends. They don’t have to be Love Cats. Besides, he’s been Jumping Someone Else’s Train for a very long time now.

I saw them in concert. The Cure, not Lily. It was the most boring concert I have ever been to. I’m not saying you need pyrotechnics or midgets dancing around a tiny stonehenge. But he stood in front of the mic and occasionally drank some water.

The guy from Depeche Mode was more exciting. He stood there but would occasionally break out in some spastic dance. But I love The Cure and their tunes. I guess they are better in your ear hole.

Ah, first the Morrissey references and now The Cure. If Cord ever drops a Depeche Mode reference, he’ll have my heart.

Wow jujubees, you saw DM in concert? That’s really, really awesome.

Juje: I’m giong to see the cure in June - I’ll let you know if it is more exciting. I think you need to be like 2 feet away staring into RS’s adorable face to appreciate his performance live. Also, I guess I have you to thank for the fact that “Hell Hole” is goign through my head. Luckily it’s in Dubly.

I saw all those guys. It was back in the old days and I was in my heavy eyeliner only black clothes phase. Till I became a headbanger. But I loved hearing the music live.

You could be right. I was in the nosebleed seats. It wasn’t totally boring. A really drunk guy fell over the seats and passed out.

Oh, there actually is, uh… there was a Saint Hubbins?
That’s right, yes.
What was he the saint of?
He was the patron saint of quality footwear.

Love her dress. LOVE IT! I’d like to relive my high school years and rock out to the Cure whilst dressed morbidly. Whatever you gotta do to get by. Happy V Day, y’all.
