I am Canadian, and I clearly can't vote in your upcoming election…but I can appreciate a charismatic leader, and holy crap — that speech was insane. I found myself feeling hopeful for America, and the world, listening to Obama speak last night. I could be wrong, and he could just be another politician…but he comes off as a genuine person, a real person with ideals, and the belief that those ideals CAN become reality. That's politics that we haven't seen (in America or Canada) in ages…

He totally nailed it when he said the naysayers don't get it… the election isn't about HIM, it's about US!

I only saw about ten minutes of it because I was going to a birthday party, but it was wonderful.

I was sort of upset that I couldn't watch it at work, but I was able to listen to it on the internet. It was so good that I listened to it twice. I went home and wanted to watch it on the internet (the site was blocked at work), but then I thought that maybe I was getting carried away.

I really hope that this isn't just the workings of a good speech writer that can rally the troops so to speak, but does little once in office. I really hope he does everything that he says he will and hope he inspires people to do more.

Of course it could all go to shit if McCain and Sarah Plain and Tall wins the election.

Obama is the first candidate I've been excited about since 1992. I voted for Kerry and Gore in previous elections but wasn't especially crazy about them…

Obama still has time to piss me off, and I'm sure he will eventually, but he really would have to do something truly awful for me to say, "well, I've changed my mind. Now I'm voting Republican." I'm looking forward to voting FOR him and not just against someone else.
