OK, the blood pressure is back to normal, and I can think straight again, mostly. They should hold Heath's funeral in Maryland. Fred Phelps (the leader of the church) was sued there by a family whose son's funeral was protested by WBC. Their son was a soldier killed in Iraq. He wasn't gay, but Phelps thinks that US soldiers being killed in Iraq is God's punishment for people in the "US being tolerant of homosexuals" (yeah, don't look for logic, you won't find it. He also thinks the Sago mine disaster is God's wrath for this). Anyway, they sued him and a couple of his daughters (I think it was his daughters, don't quote me on that) for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress and won. The jury awarded the family a phenomenal amount of money, like a total of $11 million. The best part is that the judge questioned the jury and said something like "You know the defendants will never be able to pay that, right?" and the jury basically said they didn't care because they wanted to send him the message that what he was doing was not acceptable.

There's a documentary on this church running on Showtime you guys should check out (they really are just a bunch of publicity hounds. They were on Tyra Banks' show and have been all over CNN for months. I know you hags just topic changed quite effectively, but I'm (shockingly) late to the posting and while normally I'd just sit back and let you haggle on about necessity of paprika/vomit to make great eggs, I felt the need to sound off on the absurdity of the WBC (not that you haven't already covered their insanity enough).

How is it possible that people can still consider the Bible as a document to be read literally, while completely disregarding any and all pieces that may show disagreement to comments like "God hates fags". While I can submit that it certainly has elements which should be noted in ways one would want to live a "good" and "virtouos" life, I cannot, however, disagree with Donald Morgan's famous quote “A thorough reading and understanding of the Bible is the surest path to atheism." It is a religious document full of contraditions, fables, and proverbs.

In any case, the most prevalent aspect of Christianity has always seemed to be (to me) "Judge not, lest ye be judged" Matt. 7:1, and not arbitrary damnation from the ignorant. I hope that Fred Phelps and his obviously insane "followers" all get eaten by fire ants or die from ebola.
