This is the handiwork of Florida businessman Mike Meehan, and he’s paid to have three of them raised around Orlando. According to Meehan, who says it’s important for voters to remember to focus on the war, he is a proud Republican and “a man of God.”

Ahh, the politics of fear. Great. What a douchebag.
A rather silly open letter to Mike Meehan:
I'm sure that in Canada it comes off as very prestigious to have been Jerry Lee Lewis's substitute at one time. However, your song offends me. While it's true that Republicans are the only people who care about the Constitution, and I heartily agree that Democrats are the only party trying to raise taxes, the most offensive implication in your song is that we should not vote for members of the media. I'm also confused by the implication that a God-given right has to be fought for. Could this be because God is under attack? Please explain a little better?
As always, I do take the opinions of podunk musicians into account when I cast my vote, so rest assured that I will carefully consider your perspective when November rolls around.
Best,
Sar
p.s. Is this you?
A more effective billboard might be a photo of your hard-earned cash flying out of your pocket, right into the hands of someone "less fortunate" than you. That's why you shouldn't vote for a Democrat.
It is extremely offensive to me. HOWEVER, one joy of our great gluttonous America is using your (hard) earned money on whatever you damn well please, no matter how offensive and ridiculous and pointless it may be (for the most part).
And he'll hide behind the First Amendment anyways, so there's really no point in getting all upset. Except climbing up the billboard ladder and tagging it with something a little more cheery, that would be effective :-)
Part of me is unhappy about the use of 9/11 to sell a viewpoint - but then, he's definitely not the only person to do that.
On the other hand, this is total nonsense. It barely makes any argument. The only thing it seems to do with any success is advertise that website.
I think if it made any logical sense, it would make me angrier.
Well, now some Democrat is obliged to put up a billbord of a dead Iraqi child. "Please don't vote for a Republican."
What I don't understand is the use of 9/11, given the fact that we had a Republican president at the time ….
Does he seem to forget that 9/11 happened while a REPUBLICAN was in office?
Jinx MAgStar!!
Alice you're getting Jinxed a lot lately. Do you have a running tally of how many cokes you owe to various commenters?
Sar, who says then don't owe me cokes? Yeah, think about that .. absorb my depth!
Well, the point was good enough to be made twice, Alice and MagStar.
At least it isn't a picture of Obama dressed like Bin Laden.
He is saving that billboard until the election is closer, Mom.
And this is yet another reason why I look forward to the state of Florida being completely submerged by the rising ocean levels due to global warming.
Really, I can't wait.
I'm surprised that Mollygood has found a state besides Texas to pick on. Or perhaps relieved.
I live in Texas. I used to live in Florida (Jax). All in all, I'd rather live in New Hampshire. Honestly, these are two really fucked up states in which to live. Between the guns, death penalties and radical Christians .. well, it's madness.
Wait…I logged back on and found out I won a Coke from Alice. Awesome!!!
*flourishes rapier*
where this mike meehan now so i may kill him?
Is this supposed to be satire too?
I can't hate on Florida, just their billboards. After all, it was once the great home of Sophia, Rose, Blanche and Dorothy.
it's also the home of florida state!
(you're welcome, cait!)
i hate the seminoles, but i will defend to the death cait's god given right to be one.
The Bobby is the Pope of the Church of Cait.
Seriously, batches. Our engagement photo has The Bobby in it.
GEAUX NOLES!
Best,
A gal who lived in Florida for 22 years
did a democrat blow up the twin towers? i'm confused
I too am from FL. There was the best billboard ever in my town. Picture it: painting of Japanese bombers with a tag line that read, "Remember Pearl Harbor - Don't buy Japanese." It was right next to a car dealership - which, I don't think was a Japanese car company, I don't actually remember. Anyhow, the dealer grew palm trees really high - there was some lawsuit that forced them to cut it. Very exciting.
SHUT UP SARA
*pees in sara's eyes.*
lol at lava.
damn, i just said lol.
i hate lol.
I live in Texas too Alice. I'm just tired of all the posts that make fun of Texas. There's enough loonies in every state to make fun of equally.
And they said a cover of Sisquo's "Thong Song" couldn't be done…
I grew up in Lynchburg, VA, hometown of Jerry Falwell and his Southern Baptist Minions. For years and years, as you drove into town, there was a giant billboard that read: "Marriage before the Carriage" to help dissuade girls from getting knocked up. Of course, I always thought it was kind of silly, because it seemed like an endorsement of abortion.
He's blaming Bill Clinton for the 9/11 attacks because he claims Clinton had the opportunity to kill Osama and didn't. Clinton claims otherwise, of course.
This guy's an idiot and I'm pissed he's getting all of this media coverage.
agreed Chellelee79! I like living in TX and it's not messed up than any other place because its PEOPLE who are crazy, not land masses.
sar - you just reminded me of that Family Guy episode where Lois was running against Adam West for office. All of her answers to the media's questions were "9…. 11." Lol… ahhh, Adam West. I loved his light bright scene.
Nobody messes with Adam We….
