I don't understand the point of any of these "buy our stupid statusy objects and we will donate 0.00001% of the proceeds to the starving children of the people who make them" ploys. Maybe we should all try to buy a little less disposable junk in the first place (me included).

No thanks, because a)there are free totes all over the place and at thrift shops for waaay cheaper 2)http://freerice.com/ I play this game all the time and it's a good deed and d) the energy that goes into making those bags is not eco-friendly (reuse, reduce, recycle)

i think the only reason people buy this crap that's supose to feed the children is so they can show everybody how much they care. why not just make a donation? why do you need a tote that tells people you feed the children?

They are ugly and expensive. They are only out to feed kids, so I see no conflict with them getting these things sewn by a 6-year-old in Cambodia. Also, the one giggle from taking it to the grocery store (reducing yourself to some farm animal) notwithstanding, I would rather give some moolah to someone else.

I prefer to just donate money than buy lame crap. I'd never use that ugly thing.

If the kids don't meet a target weight after this program, will they cut its funding? After all, we don't want any child left behind.

I would also be afraid if I was toting this bag people may start throwing food at me. Don't feed the hag, please.

Those tote bags look like feed bags for horses.

Can we infer that the kids will be getting their food from feedbags?

Juje: I think we MUST infer that. It is our duty. As Americans. Or the terrorists have won.

Like I said before, I may laugh one time. After that, I think I would start to feel uncomfortable. Especially since I live in NYC, where there is a disporportionate amount of size 0s. And they are all hungry so you know how bitchy they can be. And they are all smart enough to recognize a feed bag.

If I am already fat, can I get a bag that says "FED"? (That was meant to be sarcastic, but now I sort of like the idea)

Ugh…Africa is the latest accessory. I get so sick of everyone saying "save Africa, save Africa" yadda yadda yadda. Africa is in this stupid mess because the governments don't give a shit about the people who live there.

Why doesn't the world call (even thought the UN is a total joke) on the African governments to support thier own people? I would be more willing to help them out if it wasn't so one-sided. Do you think the governments over there are doing anything for thier people? Many of the countries in Africa have a lot of potential but the priviledged few are putting up so many roadblocks that by us sending money and aid, it's almost enabling the people who should be doing something to solve the problems there in the first place.

    Stepping off the soapbox now.
