Is Joe Biden, senior Delaware senator and seemingly cool dude, going to be Barack Obama's choice for running mate today? Maybe. Biden would be a good pick and he's said he'd accept the position were it offered to him.

But who knows; our political process is one of the shadiest, most ridiculous things in the world, and it's riddled with weird decisions. Perhaps the position will be offered to Hillary Clinton, or Virgina governor Tim Kaine. Or perhaps it will be offered to me. I've got all these great loafers; it'd be a shame to see them go to waste.

The only reason Obama is considering Biden is because he is clean and articulate.

Isn't Biden the one that seemed so amazed that Obama is "clean and well-spoken?" Not that I'm holding a grudge.

I'm kind of hoping that he picks Biden. Not that I think Biden is the perfect choice(although I do see eye to eye with him on some of the issues that I consider most important); but if Obama picks Hillary Clinton, I will be forced to vote for McCain.

Awright, Helen, you are not responding quickly enough and I'm anxious to hear what you have to say. I'm sure Ilnaz is, too. Hurry up or I might start calling you names. Really, really immature ones.

If QC can get Cord the VP position, I'll lead the hostile-as-it-needs-to-be takeover of the free world to put Cord in power. It's full proof. Dissenters of the takeover will be sent to the THUNDERDOME.

i don't think biden would be a good choice simply from a marketing standpoint. can you see the posters ? obama-biden. looks like a play on "osama bin laden". i don't think that would go over well with simple minded fence sitters.

Ilz & Sarah-

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'm like the majority of Americans - trapped somewhere between conservative and liberal. I haven't made up my mind yet as to whom I am going to vote for. Obama's inexperience concerns me, but I can't help but feel drawn to him as a candidate. I think that John McCain has a lot of redeeming qualities, and he's one of the most liberal Republicans we've seen in a very long time. (You are free to disagree with me if you'd like, but we could do much worse for a president -after all, we've survived almost 8 years of Bush.)

Why I like Biden: He has a real understanding of international policy because of his extensive experience. And that is going to be critical to our ability to get our troops safely out of Iraq without creating a vacuum of power that will ultimately be filled by gangs and extremists. I think this will be especially critical since one of Obama's weakest areas is international policy. He's also an advocate of alternative energy, which will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and help our environment. He helped draft landmark legislation to protect abused women. And he understands the plight of the dwindling middle class.

Why I DON'T like Hillary: I don't trust her. I think she's shifty. And I don't trust her husband either. This may sound totally insane, but I just know, deep down in my heart, that if she becomes VP, she's going to have Obama killed so she can be president. The woman terrifies me.

That is all.

Hilary and Obama could never be on the same ticket. They both seem too headstrong to share the same ticket. Hilary would want to elbow him out of the picture and have herself be the major decision maker (like the current situation). He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would sit idle in a corner. Patrick Swayze would have to walk in and say "No one puts Barack in a corner".

Any one who would vote for McCain out of spite or for whatever reason is insane! Has this country not had enough shame with Bush that we would vote for more of the same bulls***? It would mean new wars, continuing wars, repeal of women's rights and on and on and on.

Thank you, Helen. I get it. There was a time when I would've agreed with you about McCain - early in the election season I thought, well, if a Republican gets elected he might not be so bad. Since then, however, he's become disturbingly hawkish and scary - he actually seems like he's changed his views to a point where he is unrecognizable from the man I used to respect. I'm sure this is a campaign strategy to reign in as many Republicans as possible, but that doesn't make it any less scary - maybe even more.

I do agree with you about Clinton - she also used to be someone I respected, and now she's just another old white guy politician. I'm sure there's no danger of her being on Obama's ticket, though - I think O's people know that she's way too big a personality to be willing to share, even if she were to accept. It would only cause trouble.
