Dubai government developer Nakheel hopes to sell a penthouse in Donald Trump's towers on Dubai's first artificial island for more than $30m, which would smash the emirate's record for its most expensive apartment.
The two towers of the Trump International Hotel & Tower, scheduled for completion in 2011, will form the gateway to Palm Jumeirah, the offshore development that will host a permanent residence for the Cirque du Soleil and the retired QE2 cruise liner, along with hotels, apartments and villas.
…
Mr Trump has reserved one of the development's 399 residences for himself. The project has already received bids as high as $3,270 a sq ft in pre-sales before yesterday's launch. The $1.1bn development, a joint venture with Nakheel, is the US magnate's first foray into the Middle East.

Hey let me clean tht nose for you
THT=THAT
The UAE pillages itself. I used to have to go there on business fairly frequently and it became a game to see what ginormous structure or tourist trap has been erected since I last visited. They seem determined to create "The World's Largest Collection of World Records" as part of their greater goal of becoming both the financial center and premier vacation destination of the Middle East.
In the Mall of the Emirates there are ski slopes. SKI SLOPES…in a MALL…in the Middle East…with Swiss Chalet themed cafes. This is a stones throw from the Dubai Zoo, a beach park, another 30 malls, and my personal favorite Wild Wadi Water Park.
I had to go to Wild Wadi because the idea of a water park in a Muslim country intrigued me. It was mostly filled with Europeans, but there were a few Muslim women there with their children, and I have to admit, to my ignorant western eyes, seeing a woman wearing a burkha floating along a river ride was one of the most surreal experiences of my life.
To be fair, I should have said Dubai, not the UAE, since I don't know that the rest of the UAE is like that.
Modern civilization began in the Middle East and I guess it's going to end there too. *sigh* Thanks for helping to usher in the end of the world, Donald!
I guess I meant just civilization and not 'modern civilization,' but you all get my point.
