No More Criticizing World Leaders, Jerks!

Seen this yet?

The treatment President Bush has received from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have. The president is not to blame for all these problems. He never lost faith in America or her people, and has tried his hardest to continue leading our nation during a very difficult time.

Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty — a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

After the jump, the Mollygood response.

Yeah. Shame on us. What is a little stopping on the Constitution among friends? ;-P

Maybe if he wouldn't have completely disregarded this country during his time in office, we'd be a little nicer to him now.

Let me sing a song for him as he goes:

Hit the road jack, and don't you come back no more, no more, hit the road jack.

MiKem - people get killed in wars - I doubt you would say that FDR was directly responsible for the 300,000 american soldiers that died during World War II. You might not remember this but Bush got permission to send our troops to war - just about all of the democrats voted for it - Hillary, Biden, and if Obama had been a senator at the time he would have voted for it too as he never breaks with his party. The Iraqis had invaded Kuwait and agreed to a number of terms in the ceasefire. They broke all their promises so we had every right to go back in there. Maybe we shouldn't have or you could argue that we should have been smarter about it but there was no failure of governance. Sorry

Sure people die in wars, but like someone above said, certain wars go on for too long for no reason. My father in law was on the front lines of Vietnam and he's still pissed. He fought in a pointless war and he came home in one piece, but a lot of his friends didn't. Fine, maybe Bush had good intentions going into Iraq (I'm not sure what they may have been) but the citizens of this country want to know why we're still there. It makes no sense. Also, the economy is not 100% Bush's fault, but maybe 40%. He turned a blind eye while all his corporate buddies were making millions. He should have worked to tighten restrictions on banks. He was too busy counting cash with all the oil bigwigs. Too many things just don't add up.

said it before, I'll say it again. the GOP has to stop pandering to their "base" of racists and anti-choice folks and start moving more to the center if they want to have a political future in this country. People's attitudes are changing (take this election, for example) and they need to change too.

George W. Bush screwed up my state, then the country. Under his rule, the poor got poorer, the middle class became an underclass, benefits for the most vulnerable (children and seniors, the mentally ill and mentally retarded)were slashed beyond belief, we became involved in a war under false pretenses and with dire consequences, lost the respect and cooperation of the world community……..meanwhile, Fat Cat CEO's got fatter, the wealthy became wealthier, the government became Big Brother, and W did whatever the bloody hell he wanted. Congress didn't approve his choice of judicial nominee or FDA appointment? He just went ahead and appointed them while Congress was out of session. He didn't like what legislation was passed? He just vetoed it. That assclown never gave a second thought to the system of checks and balances our Founding Fathers put in place, he just treated the US like an aristocracy and sat on his damn throne. Respectfully disagree. Harper may be the most conservative option we've got, but he's nowhere near on the same level as Bush. And I am by no means a Harper fan, but he hasn't done a bad job these past few years, and the options (Dion, Layton) weren't that good. I'm not unhappy he got re-elected, actually, and I am a rather flaming liberal.

What kind of destruction is Harper going to wreak on the country in 2 years with a minority government that we should be up in arms about?

That's actually a sincere question.

No. 42 ilnazhad says:

Janice, I actually agree. Harper is a lot sharper that Bush and the left-wing candidates were not nearly as sharp as Obama. I really don't have any innovative information, he's just clearly regressive:
- "Conservative government would table a bill revoking gay marriage"
-He supported US President George Bush's war in Iraq, calling the Canadian position "abrasively neutral."
-He said: "These [federal government] proposals included cries for billions of new money for social assistance in the name of 'child poverty' and for more business subsidies in the name of 'cultural identity'. In both cases I was sought out as a rare public figure to oppose such projects. …"

No. 44 janice says:

That link is from Jan. 10, 2006. In Dec 2006, after equal marriage was legalized (under his government) he said he would respect the vote.

Your link also says this: "On December 22, Harper pledged to protect Canada's north from incursions from US submarines." –not to argue that he's not pro-military, but he's also not a total sheep to Bush.

I do agree that he would have dragged us into Iraq, and I thank Yoda every day that Chretien was smart enough to keep us out.

I have a hard time knowing what that last quote means, since there's no context for it, and it doesn't name any of the programs it refers to.

The link, which also isn't exactly unbiased, seems to be pointing out that Harper is a hypocrite for going more liberal now than he has in the past.

I don't even think I'm necessarily disagreeing with you, but although Harper is a fiscal conservative, I think socially on some issues, he is more progressive than even Obama, and it's kind of a mischaracterization to call him Canada's Bush.

Also, you have to admit, Stephane Dion has all the charisma of a bowl of oatmeal.
