Yes, the majority doesn't give a shit. Just like the majority does not care for books. Or doesn't bother be guided by ethics.
It may not become mainstream, but it isn't futile. You criticize the creation of films like Sex And The City: The Movie, but then say there is no point in making quality films? What the fuck are we supposed to do?
I really don't understand where you are trying to go with this post…
Love the Swimmer reference - Cheever's only recent claim to fame was as Susan's father's lover in a Seinfeld episode. I would have chosen the Ice Storm or Happiness over American Beauty, but then that may be just jumping on your snobwagon.
it was only around last xmas you were ranting about how much the suburbs suck. so i guess there is still an audience for movies about how the suburbs suck.
I think that movie looks wonderful and I will totally download it illegally. I mean, see it in the movie theatre. I live in the suburbs, I like them. You know, now that I'm pushing 30. I also lived in Brooklyn a few years ago. I thought it was a vile place to live.
While Stranger Than Fiction follows a different storyline (can't be grouped into this thread), it seems like Galifianakis studied Will Ferrell's character for his own role. Except, he's not as good.

P.S.
They are in the works on making a sequel to Donnie Darko. I look forward to the post bashing it. (For the record, I thought DD was over-rated.)
he already brought that up.
Oh. I have been slacking on my MG addiction lately.
