Suri sure is a slow dummy head, my son is 11 months and is already making the transition to sippy cups. He also knows how to fetch mama her beers and flip flops and put the fish sticks in the oven…
You’ve got a good egg there Maria. I remember getting my dad beers when I was around 4. He tried to make it a game (terrible right?). You can get kids to do almost anything if you make it a game. If you say “I bet you can’t…” or “I’ll time you”, they are like putty.
I dont think its Suri’s fault that she is still on the bottle….seriously folks…lol. Katie most likely knows SQUAT about raising kids(what does tom know…he adopted his previous two kids)…so i could totally see her continuing to give Suri her barley juice (or whatever they feed baby aliens) in the bottle because its “easier”. Those crazy aliens!!! ;)
Nova, Tom doesn’t know anything about raising kids because he’s not his first two’s biological father??? Or maybe I’m missing something and Tom didn’t adopt those kids as infants…
What do any of us know about having kids when we are blessed with them?
We don’t. (We may think we do, but life is the great humbler. No matter what you thought or planned for, it doesn’t ever turn out that way.)
We know what our parent’s did. We know what we want to emulate from our parents, and what we want to stay far away from with regards to how our parents did it.
And then you have the “other parent” bringing their memories of how things should be done.
I think this is a big contributer to mother-in-law vs daughter-in-law stand offs. I know that the mother-in-law needs to step back and give the advice as it is requested. I am speaking from experience as the daughter-in-law, and also from the mother-in-in law.
(As an older woman, you just really think that the kids can’t even take out the garbage without being reminded, and they killed that fish from neglect, remember that? Yes, that WAS
Fifth Grade. So now they have a baby.) !!!!!
Yeah, well my kid’s been drinking successfully from a cup (no lid! no handles!) since he was 10 months old. Suck it, Suri.
(Sarcasm, folks. I think Suri is adorable. (But my kid has been drinking from a cup since 10 mos.))

Actually, from a Moms perspective, that is pretty huge. I feel for her nannies.

Usually the spammers piss me off, but for some reason Lindsay’s spam is cracking me up tonight.
And I have no idea why adopting children would mean you know nothing about raising kids.
